Converting a multi-day pass to a Magic Key

I asked this question when the Magic keys were in their infancy. Now that they've been out a while I'll ask again. Going to DL 2/21-2/24, currently have a 1 park per day, 4-day pass staying off site. We will be returning 4/18-4/21 (VGC) so we're considering upgrading to Enchant with a couple of questions. Part of my motive was cheapness, I wanted to have the park reservations for Feb without having to pay the full key cost all at once. My thought is once we enter the parks on the first day with the 4-day pass we could upgrade to the Enchant to start getting the discounts plus be able to start making reservations for April. Is it possible to convert these passes within one of the parks? My concern is once I convert, are the park reservations I've made for the next 3 days now cancelled because that 4-day pass no longer exist or are they still ok? I fear I go for one day and then can't go any more because the parks are now full (Presidents week) and I'd be in the Magic Key bucket. Would the park reservations carry over to the Key pass? If not, I can still wait until the last day to convert right? I'd obviously like to take advantage of the food/merchandise discounts the whole time but if it screws up park reservations I'd have to live with it. I guess for those of you who have done this, what's my best option?

The reservations do not carry over. Also, Enchant is blocked on your first park day (2/21) so if you upgrade that day after entering you won’t be able to leave and come back. Now, if at the end of 2/21 you see on the calendar that park reservations are available for the next three days of your trip fro Enchant, you could upgrade at the very end of 2/21 and quickly book reservations for for next three days.

Reservations do not carry over so make sure Magic Key reservations are available when you upgrade.

Also plan for potential glitches: My cousins upgraded tickets while in the park and they completely disappeared from the app. They had to wait in line at the ticket booth for over an hour to get it fixed. None of the CMs inside the park were able to help them and after leaving the park for the ticket booths, they could not return to the park for the day.

Back in November I had a 5 day park hopper and decided to upgrade to an Enchant key. While I was there there was an option through the app to pay to upgrade. I was given the option to upgrade to Enchant or the next highest one (I don’t remember the name but I know it’s sold out). But when I was about to upgrade it warned me that all my park reservations would disappear if I upgraded and it said they recommend upgrading on your last park day before your ticket expires once you’ve entered your last park. So on my last day once I had park hopped to Disneyland for the final time in the last couple hours of the day I upgraded. So basically as I understand it you’ve got from when you enter your last park until the end of the day to upgrade through the app

you dont need to wait for the end of the last day, just clock into your park and upgrade right then

I didn’t say you have to wait until the end of your last day, I said you have to wait until you’ve scanned in to your last park and you have until the end of the day

Just for clarification. Are you then only charged the difference bw your multi-day pass and the Magic Key (even though you already used up your multi-day tix).

Plus, I guess, you miss out on the food and merch discounts.

Yeah. So I bought my tickets from a website that’s filtered out on these boards and got a pretty big discount but I only paid what the price of the Enchant key was minus the “gate” price of a 5 day park hopper. That ended up being $234 I think. Basically the longer/more expensive your ticket is the less difference you’ll have to pay for the Enchant key.

We're currently on day 4/5 at Disneyland and are debating upgrading as well. We don't have any planned visits this year to come back but aren't opposed if the travel restrictions for Canadians are dialed back a bit ($400 on testing alone this trip for 2 of us). We do have an 8 night stay booked at the Boardwalk in WDW in May, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but do the magic keys give any discounts at WDW?

No, nothing at DW.

I've been doing a bit of digging and it seems like I get the same discount at just about all of the same places with my DVC card. I'm leaning towards upgrading on the last day.

I’d love to convert my multi day but the Enchant just doesn’t look worth it, blocked out most of the summer, most weekends, no bueno

That pass is tricky, lots of blockout dates. If you can make it the last two weeks of August you're good, otherwise the summer is "no bueno".

I was considering upgrading my mulit-day hopper to a Magic Key on the trip I start in the morning.
Before the closure I had been an AP hold forever.

With all the CHAOS due to the pandemic, I decided to go and just enjoy my time this trip and call it a day.
Plus the $Expense$ to Enjoyment isn't the same due to ALL the CRAZY changes Disney has done.

Instead of upgrading to a MK, I will be getting a puppy when I get back.
I will be spending my Disney Bucks elsewhere for awhile.
When I do decide to return to Disneyland, I hope I can afford a trip.

Disney just isn't the same anymore. 643195

we only go twice a year and our planned trip for the second half of the year looks perfect for this time so the blackout dates dont bother me
