I am hopefully a new DVC owner on day 4 of ROFR. We are hoping to book a trip for December. The villa I want is available on the disney website for cash rental. Is it possible to book the room cash and then convert it to points when my points are loaded? Then I will just cancel my reservation if Disney takes my contract.

Nope. You can't convert.

Can I assume that if the villa is on the website for sale than it is also available for rent with DVC points? That way I can keep track of availability until I have access to the DVC site.

No. Once the villa is offered for cash that means it has been pulled out of the "DVC inventory" (someone maybe traded their points in for a cruise, for example). It stays in the cash inventory and does not go back into DVC inventory. You cannot book it with points.

There isn't a way for a non-member to see availability for points reservations.

Once you pass ROFR (hope all goes well for you with that) and get entered into the system, you'll be able to book and see availability.

FWIW, it's going to be a long shot to get anything at BCV for this December. December is a tough reservation to get at the BCV if you can't book during the home resort priority period. The last time I looked for this December, the first two weeks were already booked up for studios and there was only a couple of scattered nights for a 1 bedroom. Not a whole lot better for the last 2 weeks.

I don't remember what it looked like for 2 bedrooms, but I doubt it was any better.

You may get lucky with a waitlist, but probably best to plan on staying at one of the larger resorts not near a park this time - SSR is the one most likely to be available.

The good news is that in the future, you shouldn't have trouble getting exactly what you want, when you want it, as long as you book when your 11 month window first opens.

Again - Good luck with ROFR!

Thanks for the info. Was actually hoping to get the treehouse at Saratoga and got excited when I saw it available. Waiting is the hardest part.

If your dates are the 3rd week of Dec. (15-20), you might have a chance of something, but before that will be impossible and after that very difficult.
