Convention Troubles - Resort Reservation & Fast Passes

I am attending a convention with my sister in Disney at end of October 28-31. We've purchased our park tickets and airfare so everything is pretty set except with RESORT confirmation. She had to book her hotel (POP Century) through her association's convention housing office. Although we are confirmed, we still need to receive an actual DISNEY RESORT CONFIRMATION is order to link and book fast passes through My Disney Experience. As of yesterday, we still don't have a confirmation and therefore I feel we are missing certain ride fast passes etc (Mine Train, Toy Story etc.) I know once we get the 30-day window we'll be able to book these, but that's still a few weeks away and with crowds, I'm just afraid we will miss some things.

Anyone else ever had this issue in regards to attending convention and waiting for Disney to confirm?
