Does anyone know if they have specific rooms they block off at the Contemporary for conventions, or if they just do run of the house?

I've been reading on here, and it seems that people keep saying they run into convention people in the tower (or that they themselves were convention people, and got tower rooms), but no one has said anything about being put in the garden wings.

Do conventions get the standard tower rooms and everyone else get the garden rooms during conventions?

I can only speak about my own experience - I attended a convention at the CR and was indeed in a tower room (Bay Lake view)

Depends on what the company that booked the convention wants to pay for. Some convention halls are in the tower (below the Concourse) and some are in a convention wing.

That actually brings up another question then -

The convention that's going on is during the South Garden Wing rehab, and that's the wing that's closest to the convention center. Are there separate convention rooms that are attached to the tower somehow? Like in the main building but on a low level?

It would seem odd to put people in the North Garden Wing since it's the farthest away, but, hey, what do I know?

Any conferences I have ever attended there when you made your room reservations they had 2 room categories (and 2 prices)...one for the wings and 1 for tower rooms....convention rooms are not typically booked together (like all on the 5th floor or all in the south wing 2nd floor)....you book a room and they assign you a place at check in.

I suppose convention planners could just block 1 type of room (tower or wing), but none of the meetings I have attended there did that. Once when I called to book my room the tower rooms they had blocked at the convention rate were sold out and all they had left were wing rooms....I opted to use out points and stay at OKW and drive over each AM however.

I don't think they would hesitate to put convention guests in the North Wing however.... in fact a coworker was in the North Wing the last time I had a meeting there.
