Convention in September

We are planning to visit DL 9/13-19. In trying to book hotels I notice many are unavailable 9/14-16 and those that are available have very high rates. In looking that the Anaheim Convention Ctr. website it looks like there is a Solar Power convention that week, expecting 16,000 attendees. Does anyone know how this will affect the parks? Will it be more crowded? We had hoped going the off-season would mean slightly lower hotel rates and easier crowds, but now I'm not sure...any info on your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I hadn't heard of the Solar Power International Expo before, but it looks like it moves around (last year it was in Las Vegas and in Chicago in 2013). So it's hard to say it will impact Disneyland Resort and the crowds. I would guess that you'll see a slight uptick in attendance due to the convention, probably most notably in the evenings. That time period may also coincide with the start of HalloweenTime (the best guessing is that HalloweenTime will start somewhere between September 12 and 18).

The weeks before that seem to be lower prices, although I have seen a few hotels increase in the last few weeks since I have also been watching that month. The 3 middle nights of your stay seem to be the higher priced ones for some reason. I have also observed some hotels get cheaper the closer to approaching, maybe due to cancellations or better forecasts?

For your dates, you may consider going for dapper days and get a cheap rate at an onsite hotel if you are looking in the $200 range already. Just bring some fancy clothes for Sept 18 and get dapper!

Thanks for the input! I do already have the dapper rate booked for us at the GCH that week! I'm looking for friends who hope to join us that week and they are on a tighter budget than we are.
