There was a lot of construction in the Contemporary Resort well as a round resort like building being built. Anyone know whats going on there?
Timeshares...it used to be called "Kingdom Towers" but they've changed the name. I think it looks awful. There was a lot of construction in the Contemporary Resort well as a round resort like building being built. Anyone know whats going on there?

My question was something along the lines of...."Why are so many people on disboards.com so enthralled with this new hotel?"
I posted a question about this on one of the other disboards.com boards, and either it was deleted, moved, or scrolled away into oblivion before I saw the responses.

There are many people on the DVC board who are holding up on getting points so that they can get points there. What is the attraction? If it is anything like the Contemporary - which I think would be a "moderate" if not lower if it didn't have the monorail going through it - odds are that theming will be minimal. so, with that said, is proximity to Magic Kingdom the only draw? If so, I'm not seeing it. Nothing is "that" far away, and if I am going to get all excited about a hotel, it better have some incredible theming.
Nothing official has been announced. There are many rumors about it being a DVC timeshare resort but until we hear the official announcement......
Actually I think the new building looks more contemporary than the original building. The original looked very contemporary when it was built but as time has passed it looks less and less contemporary. Except for the fact the monorail passes through it I wish they'd tear it down and build an entire new resort.![]()

Yesterday . . . .

Is it actually possible that the closer to completion this abomination is, the uglier it gets? I know I've made this statement before, but only half in jest: It really looks like the untalented, unimaginative architects responsible for this crescent-shaped tower had never even seen the Contemporary Resort (even in pictures) before creating their design (it clashes that badly).
