Controversial Topics Board

Come on in and find out. :)

Earlier today in the 'latest posts' on the right side of my screen I saw a post regarding some fairly big and political news. Clicked on it and was told I didn't have permission to view it. Then it was gone. My assumption is that it was a controversial posting.

Made me want to sign up, but right now, too much work to do so maybe in a couple of weeks I'll try to join! If I joined now I'd probably be reading and get nothing done!

No actually DM, I think they are true. C’mon DM. You are special no worries.
Try going there now. There are quite a few with very right leaning views (I assume that is what you are talking about) who are engaging in several of the posts and have even started their own threads to discuss issues of importance. Everyone has been welcome and the discussions have been great.

Oh, there is an Agnostic/Atheist thread going on there now actually. I have different views so not really participating, but from briefly looking in there it has been a good discussion amongst those participating.

Edit: sorry, it is actually Atheist/Atheist adjacent but still a decently participated discussion:

I meant agnostic in terms of politics. Probably bad choice of words. I’m actually a Christian, but having any alliance to the the Uniparty I’m over it. No plans to vote. No interest in any of it., and disgusted with all sides

Gotcha, that makes sense. Well, a lot of threads there now revolve around politics so probably a good board to avoid at the moment! haha Hoping things will start looking up in the next few election cycles.

I would not expect things to look up this year. I actually expect total chaos and neither side will accept the results.

There are some. I wouldn’t classify it as “quite a few” at all.

I wouldn't say it's "quite a few" just yet either. More than a few though. And I have found that there's quite a bit of nuance in DISer's viewpoints, with respect to the several topics, including politics. It seems that some right-leaning DISers are more tentative to head over there and speak their minds, and I have no explanation for that. But I will say it's quite freeing to be able to speak your mind. I'm enjoying it.

Hmm, let’s see.

Posters outright saying they’ll feel differently about some posters if their views don’t align with their own.

Bullying and personal attacks.

Laughing emojis.

It does appear to mostly be an echo chamber of left leaning posters high five’ing themselves for their clever and carefree right bashing.

What’s not to love about it?

Clearly, some of us "left leaning" DISers were looking forward to getting in there and speaking our minds. However, those of us who are regulars around here know how we're going to land over there...for the most part. However, as I said, there's a lot of nuance in there as well.

There are plenty of right leaning DISers around here, without question. We've battled through the proxy wars of gun control, vaccines, transgender issues, school topics...on and on. I'm surprised that some of the most vocal proponents of right-leaning policies have not made their way over there yet.

I also find it amusing that a couple of the right leaners have found their way over there, but mostly just to do what they always do over here....the "crying with laughter" emoji to show their gleeful displeasure of the post....but never fully posting their own thoughts.

I feel like that goes both ways, don’t you think? I also think it’s sort of a lazy way of being. If someone disagrees, just spit it out! Don’t hide behind a laughing emoji. I really think they should’ve disappeared for this forum.

That all said, it is nice to be able to talk about things, as long as the talk remains civil.

I have used that emoji on the main community board, mostly out of fear of getting points/banned. Not having to do that over there....is kind of the point.
