I was looking in 2006, and at least part of our problem was that many places had gone from apartments to condos. This then left apartments at a premium. One apartment we looked at which was on the lower end of the spectrum was something like $1,000 a month but at the time the wage would have been around $7.50/hr.
I liked working there so I would always pick up shifts as a CP (during peak season I would pull 80 hours sometimes) but with the hours being so subject to the season and guest attendance, I decided it was too risky. The math just wasn't working out. Everything in Orlando is very inflated pricewise because they know they have a captive audience.
