Matching shirts are pretty common nowadays, especially in a theme park and especially at Disney. I don't think twice about it when I see families wearing them. While I wouldn't suggest it to my family to do, I'd go with the flow and do it if everyone else wanted to. If it's just one shirt, you'd only have to wear it one day right?

I have made matching shirts for my friends and I when we have gone to WDW. Now we don't have matching shirts for every day, but we had special shirts for special days.

On our last trip we had shirts for Christmas eve and Christmas Day. The ones for Christmas day turned out awesome. They weren't too tacky, but just something simple.



They had ironed on mickey heads on the front and three on the back the same size.

I made ones for our Halloween trip in 2011 for MNSSHP that were our "costumes". We got lots of compliments on them as we had a cute slogan on the front and our names on the back.

But if you had asked me when I was in middle school/teenager I would have rather died than wear matching shirts

I think it's cute. Our family did this when we had 5 children ages 12 and under. It made keeping the group together so much easier. Now that everyone is grown we don't bother.

Could you all maybe wear Vancouver Canucks t-shirts one day ? This way you are kinda matching but kinda not.

We are from STL, so we have a day or two when we all wear our Cardinals shirts. The shirts aren't exact matches. but still have the Cardinals logo on them. It is actually fun, because the other St. Louisans will sometimes come up to say " Hi " or give you a thumbs up and it is easier to tell the guys in our group, " Hey, let's wear a Cards shirt today " as opposed to " Hey, lets wear our matching t-shirts today."

My DH probably thanks his lucky stars when I only request a matching T-shirt for a family trip. One year, we attended MNSSHP on my actual Bday and we dressed as a "party" with DH as a 6' tall party hat. (The rest of our costumes were more fun and/or less tacky...) I so love him - and he so obviously loves me.
Just a thought - it could be worse...

I match the kids as far as characters and DH wears a plain colored shirt that "goes" with us. That is if he isn't wearing a Star Wars shirt. We did matching shirts for our 1st trip on a MK day. I want to do them again but will probably make DHs a spinoff of being gummy about wearing watching shirts

You are getting some great feedback here.

I think almost everyone is agreement here that the matching shirt thing isn't for everyone but, certainly no one is going to judge a family for doing this.

Honestly, I have never gotten the whole judging other people for what they wear thing.. unless it is offensive or really revealing and you have little kids getting an eye full, no one should care at all what others wear. I mean.. socks with sandals.. who the heck cares? So this person is more comfortable with socks on.. it may not be what most would wear but, who are we to judge?

A "larger" person wearing clothing that some might not think is appropriate for them.. again who cares? Unless they are showing too much and it becomes offensive, again.. who cares. I guess my point is if it is ok for a thin person with a nice body to wear a bikini, then why is it wrong for an overweight woman? So her body isn't so great.. so what.. how does that affect anyone except the woman herself?

I am overweight.. I have lost quite a bit of the weight but, I am not skinny yet... and I won't even wear a tank top because I am so overly sensitive about looking "fat" but, I do not judge another for feeling good enough about themselves to wear what they want to.

I had women make fun of me in a store at HS on our last trip because I was wearing capris and tennis shoes. I have feet issues and I won't wear shorts so, I was wearing what was comfortable for me. I was never one to judge others for how they dress but, this incident really made me feel even more non-judgmental about others and how they dress. It just hit home to me how people can be so high and mighty about fashion.

I know this is off a little from wearing matching t-shirts but, I agree with everyone who says, wear whatever you want and have fun!!

We have had matching shirts for trips before, but have never emblazoned them with dates, slogans, etc. I think simple is better. The few times we have done it, we have just purchased matching shirts from the DisneyStore. One time was matching incredible Ts, the other time was white Ts with mickey on them. That way people can actually wear them later too

We did matching shirts for a multi-gen family trip and they were great. It was grandma and grandpa's 45th anniversary. The shirts weren't obnoxious. They were navy blue with a logo on the front left chest and a larger logo on the back (castle with text). They were pretty cute and looked good in pictures.

If you DO go the Vancouver Canucks route, I suggest wearing those horribly tacky yellow, red and black abominations from the early 1980s.

Normally I'm someone who would shy away from matching shirts, but if there's one place where it works (and where I'd actually consider it) it's at Disey! Besides, the kids would get a kick out of it and that's what counts!

I like looking at other people's shirts. Usually DH and I have one either matching or complementary shirts. On our trip this past December/January, I planned for us to wear hoodies to meet Russell and Dug. DH's said "I'm her Carl" and mine said "I'm his Ellie". Once we finally got up to meet them, Russell and Dug went crazy! Then, they had us take a picture kissing and the boys covered their eyes. Favorite picture of the trip!

I love this! I have a Disney Bound outfit as young Ellie and my husband's name actually is Carl. I might get pins made that we can wear to meet them, saying the same thing

Here's the problem....tacky is in the eye of the beholder! One person's 'classy' is going to be another person's 'tacky'. I wouldn't worry about being tacky.
I like seeing family shirts that are low key.....a nice color with either a 'xyz family trip to wdw' or a symbol. It's so easy to find the rest of the group if you get split up.
Perhaps you can get the same saying, on the same color shirt but different styles of shirts? Maybe a tee shirt and a golf shirt? People can then decide which they prefer.

I saw all different shirts and in a land where people where mouse ears, there is no such thing as tacky.

Saw some really interesting tie dyed shirts, and a family of obviously Red Sox fans.
