Contracts drying up??

These days I'm mainly checking CCV, but I regularly peruse everything available in my UY just for fun

Hmm, never really thought about making one just to see what fits in my UY.

I may need to make one… I’ll call it TX911.

I check everything for our August UY. We thought September would be our year of travel, but it's not. Now, we are stuck. Kind of like our 3.125% mortgage. So I only search that UY. But yeah, I look at all resorts, some more keenly than others.

And since we have gone from 220 points to 395 in two months, I'm probably not even close to done...

I was looking for a 50 point BLT in my use year to add to my BLT. I looked for months and saw a few contracts pop up here and there but they always were gone by the time I was able to offer on them. BLT in my use year is barely available as is, let alone a small contract BLT in my use year.

I ended up settling for 50 points at AKV in my use year instead as it was clearly more available, in my budget, and also…I really want to spend some time there and see some animals. While I might still get a small additional BLT eventually, this will also work for me and be very enjoyable.

I saw Fidelity’s July prices (https://www.fidelityrealestate.com/blog/july-2024-average-dvc-resale-price-per-point/) and it appears that inventory and prices continue to decrease on the resale market. I am having trouble figuring out how both of these are true at the same time.

small Contracts are few and far between those seem to be the ones selling. The large ones are sitting and sitting.

Summer is never a good time to look. As people have paid dues and decide to use the contracts one last time or go away and forget about selling.. As we edge closer to the end of the year people start to think about selling again

Do it! I've got Feb and Oct, and when I add on at CCV it will be Oct for sure. That way you have the entire year covered

How do you save SUB? I haven’t seen that as a search option.

If I remember correctly, subsidized as a Status filter only shows up on dvcforless.com when dvcresalemarket.com has a subsidized contract and uses its "Subsidized" status. And dvcforless.com will only acknowledge the "Subsidized" status of dvcresalemarket.com listings, not from other resale brokers.

Unfortunately there's also no way to have alerts for prices above a certain threshold as a secondary way of detecting. I found the best way was to just have an alert for your UY + points range and manually investigate all the listings that pop up.

Yes, I bought three this year from March thru April and since then my addonitis has abated with the lack of options for what I am looking for. I hope that by November another batch pop up because the Wife has already used up all the points and borrowed some too.

But I travel throughout the year anyway! Traveling in the last 4 months of my UY doesn't scare me

The idea of having 2 membership numbers, transferring points between memberships, remembering 2 different banking deadlines, etc. seems like more hassle than I want to manage. I like the full allotment of my points to be fluid and able to be easily combined. Also, I have never had to cancel a trip last minute, knock on wood!

I think you are probably right! We must have the same buying strategy.

I think this AKV contract will be my last for a while unless I decide to swap it for something else eventually. This will give me enough points (310) for 2 beds at most places I want to stay for one week during my desired travel time. That is a lot more points than I initially planned on (100), and if my mom can no longer travel with us eventually, could be more than we want! But not so many it would be hard to use the extras.

Still some great deals out there and ROFR not very active. Addonitis is year round but definitely less options if looking for certain contract
