Hi Denise,
Would you mind giving us a quick overall review. We will be staying there in April. While there are a few reviews out there, there is nothing I would trust as much as a review on these boards. Have a couple of kids who love to swim, is the pool descent size?
Thanks for any advice and information you can provide.
Sure. The pool is good sized zigzag shape....plenty of room for fun. We used it today. It is 3 feet deep at each end and 5 feet deep in the center. The deck is nice and is furnished with lounge chairs and side chairs as well as cement round tables with umbrellas.
The music is nice.... classical and new age which I like but kids may not (mine, like most, have ipods for poolside). The water was comfortably warm.
The spa is a good size and I estimate that 10 to 12 adults could use it at a time. We are pool view and I see 3 or 4 people in it at once. The pool hasn't been crowded and there are plenty of places to sit. Groups of a 2-4 come and go.
We have a 3 bedroom 2 bath "platinum" corner unit, so we have a large screened balcony which faces the pool plus a regular sized screened balcony which faces greenery and also the turret style sun room/dining room.
The lobby and elevators are center and the units are on either side. Parking is underneath and then 3 floors of units. We are at the very end so it is a long walk to the elevator (thinking of little kids) but the stairway is right outside our door, which makes the parking and pool very handy, as they are accessible by the stairs. Getting into the parking area is kind of tight, just by design but I saw minivans parked in there.
There is a publix not to far up on 192 and a super target opening March 8. Nothing is walking distance.
It is nice enough here, not high end, but comfy.
The cons:
Our beds have no blankets, just sheets and bedspreads (not duvet, not comforter...bedspread with fitted corners). Not sure if every unit is like this and to be fair I have not asked for blankets but just keep the temperature moderate.
No dish cloths, dish towels or sponge. If I really were desperate I would ask for them. I just rinse the dishes with water and throw them in the dishwasher. I use a (unused) bath cloth for wiping the counter/ table. We are not messy so its ok. There was a singe use of dishwasher detergent (which I expected) and I bought a small container here. No hand wash dish soap. Stocked with the basics, dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans (all teflon... ick) and glass baking dishes. No garbage disposal.
Tub is not jetted, which I knew prior to reserving.
It is quite noisy. In the twin bedded room (and queen bedded room occupied by dd16) the sound of trucks is so loud I thought that the window must be open.
dd13 was uncomfortable sleeping alone so I took the second twin bed, near the window and I counted to myself, "one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand...." and every 45 to 60 seconds a big dump truck would drive by. I could hear them and see them, and this was at 2:00 am.... and it goes on all day and night.
We checked out further down the road today and there is a sand and gravel pit a ways down.
In the second bathroom the toilet paper holder is mounted close to the toilet seat. An extra wide bum or sideways landing would be painful.
There is a uniformed security guard overnight (could be one all day but I met the third shift one). The property is not secured. There is an attractive fence around the pool with latched closure, but anyone can drive into the parking area and wander around... inside and out.
(I don't feel vulnerable at all, but some people like secured properties when traveling.)
The pros:
Plenty of room, plenty of bath towels. Lots of light. Big bathrooms. Big master bath shower. Washer/dryer and full kitchen.
Nice helpful staff. Our requests for internet (need to pick up a cable at the front desk), hairdryer (ours was missing) and use of the theatre room were met rapidly and with "want to please" attitudes.
Love the screened balcony's. Love the arched doorways. The furnishings are ok, not high end but not the even worse basic furniture seen in the lower end villa rentals.
Anyway, kind of long but hope it helps.
We check out on saturday and head to Naples then we come back up and we will stay one night at Mike Ditkas Runaway Beach (curious about it)
Glad to answer questions.
