Anyone ever fly to Orlando with Continental airlines out of Halifax?
We just booked today for $313/person round trip . Anyone have stories to share good :thumbsup2 or bad :headache: about Continental.

Many of us here have flown with them ... no problems. You will change terminals at EWR, and this will be easy. Just use the Bus .... also, eat in Terminal C!

That price is great .... what dates?

We are flying Continental in april for the first time, I will let you know if there are any problems. I have been following everyone's advice on here about not leaving the terminal, taking the bus, etc.

This is what I mean ... your arrive at Terminal A (when heading south) and then you must transfer to Terminal C. Take the bus ... the signs are clear. The Map above does not show it, but it is easy to find. Do not take the train or leave through security to walk. The Bus means that you don't go through security again .... it's a breeze.

If you have time, you can eat in Terminal C much better than A. On your way north, it just the reverse, except still eat in Terminal C! Trust me!

Ted: We are flying into Myrtle Beach and then driving to Orlando, does that mean we will still leave from terminal C?

Our flight leaves YHZ at 6 am, does anyone know what time does Continental open for check in?

We flew Continental a few years back and we stayed in the same terminal. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was Terminal C. We found it the easiest trip we ever took! I was so concerned about the size of Newark and it was well laid out and easy to get around. I'd definitely do it again--especially for that price!

Within the past couple of years Continental has reorganized which of their planes fly out of which terminal. The small planes, like the ones going to/from Halifax, fly out of terminal A. The large ones, like the ones going to/from Orlando, fly out of terminal C.

Ted is right, do not leave the security area to change terminals. That just adds extra time spent in line and the airport staff do not take pity on any passengers who are in danger of missing their flights. When in doubt ask a staff member.

When we flew in December our flight left Halifax at 6:30am. The checkin counter opened at 5am. We were in line just before that time, with a couple of very slow parties in front of us, but the security line and customs line were very light. And contrary to popular belief the staff at all points were all pleasant and efficient.

Enjoy your trip. I wish I was going! :thumbsup2

I've done this several times on business, and Ted and Tinkershelly have it exactly right in all their details, I can confirm. Especially the part about not leaving security - and be careful when you first arrive, don't just go with the crowd, they're probably all heading to get their luggage or something; don't leave security by mistake. If you get confused, ask someone, but if they tell you to leave the secure zone, ask someone else, that person might not know what they're talking about.

Yeah, no problems with Continental and good prices.

Now, Newark used to be my least favourite airport until I went through Heathrow. But the last 3 or 4 trips through Newark weren't bad at all, I think its just fine. Of course, no airport - worldwide - beats Halifax these days. Especially U.S. pre-clearance - nobody's faster and friendlier.

Thanks everyone for the info. Especially for the visual Ted and everyone's advice for taking the bus.

Our flight is also leaving at 6:30. Good to know that checkin is open at 5am. I always thought you had to be there 3 hrs before an international flight. :confused3 We would have been there way early for no reason. Now we can sleep in a little  Ok at least not have to be there for 3:30!!

This is the first time we have flown from Canada since 2006. We usually fly from Bangor. But the cheapest we could do there was $388 with Delta.

We actually have been stalking a flight out of Halifax with Delta for $325 we finally had the money to book (we've been watching it for that price for over 2 weeks) and went to book yesterday and it had gone up to $525!! :scared1: Talk about panic till we found continental. They originally had been way more expensive.

We've only ever flown with air Canada (not since 2006) and Delta. Does Continental offer a snack and drink complimentary also? No biggie if it doesn't but with a 4 yr old I want to be prepared and buy something before we get on the plane if they don't.

PEI Mike:

We were scheduled for 6:30 as well and just got an e-mail that it has been changed to 6:00, that is in April, maybe in September it will still be 6:30.

Since last year when Continental merged with United they have stopped offering the complementary snack/small meal service and now offer snack boxes that they charge for. Here is the link to what they currently offer. The Newark-Orlando route will offer the snacks and not the meals. https://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight/economy/menu.aspx

You might be better off taking what you like from home since most of what they offer in these snacks are packaged, processed and don't require heating or refrigeration. Just don't bring fresh food that could be considered against Customs and Immigration rules, or liquids that can't go through security.

Was checking flight info for Continental out of Moncton and appears it goes to Gate C at EWR. The one issue is that my flight number and times for end of March not showing up. Looks like it might be a new flight? Hope so! Anybody with experience out of Moncton?

Watch for changes in flight numbers as Continental harmonizes with United.

Here's an example: "United Express Flights

United Continental Holdings is removing the Continental code on certain United Express flights operating to and from Continental hubs. Due to this change, flight numbers between CO* 1100-1299 will no longer be available in our flight search results. United Express will operate these flights with the UA code until further notice."
