Contemporary VS Wilderness Lodge?

We are thinking about staying at the Contemprorary or
the Wilderness Lodge using the disney Visa Card holders
rates.

Can someone comment on the benefits of either.
We would probably stay in one of the standard
rooms, as the costs seem to go up substantially
for the rooms with better views.
What are the odds of getting an upgrade either
in late April or early May.

I've stayed at both.
Cont has much bigger rooms, because it's an older Hotel. Themeing is just modern-pleasant, nothing spectacular. The north wing is an easy walk to MK.Monorail to MK and Epcot is a plus.

WL has smaller rooms, but the theming is fabulous.Boat ride to MK....bus ride everywhere else.Can rent bikes, surrey and peddal to Fort Wilderness campground.I prefer the lobby here...it's warm and inviting.

Both resorts rent "mice' and boats on the lake.

I'd second everything ScarlettO said. The Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary are so different that to compare one with another would simply drive you crazy.

Consider how long you're going to stay and whether you're going to use hotel amenities. If you plan to spend time at your hotel, choose the Contemporary. It has more dining options than Wilderness Lodge (only 2 restaurants at WL) and the rooms are much, much bigger.

However, there's one plus: whichever hotel you choose you can visit the other with no problem. The WL and Contemporary are connected via water launch.
