Sure it is just a resort room that overlooks Bay lake. They are great in the early morning, you can watch the sun rise over the lake from the quite of your balcony.

It is also great in the late afternoon when the TPV balconies feel like the surface of the sun. The resort water view balconies are shaded while you enjoy the activities out on Bay lake and down below at the pools.

IMO the water view rooms are far superior to the theme park view. It's probably the only resort I've stayed at where I spend more time on the balcony overlooking the water than in the room itself. The balcony like Dave006 sad are fully shaded so it never really feels to hot out there even during the summer.

Do you think the Contemporary is a good choice overall ? I have never stayed there
Will you be spending a good amount of time at MK or other parks?

The CR is a great location on MK Monorail which allows easy access to the other 2 resorts. And WL and Ft. Wilderness are only a short boat ride away. Note the boats on Bay lake from the CR only start running at 3 PM.

Magic Kingdom is our favourite park , at the moment I am really toying with booking as it is a big splurge but I can’t help thinking i want to book! I guess I am just asking for those that have stayed is the splurge worth it

I think the splurge is worth it if you are visiting MK a lot. CR is all about location, otherwise, you put that resort anywhere else on the planet and, well, it's pretty meh, IMHO. If you book a water view room, request a room on a higher floor - you should be able to see the EP fireworks from your balcony in the distance and the noise from the lobby won't be as bad. IMHO, if you want to be close to MK in a better resort and save a little $$, I would consider WL instead.

I would splurge. Especially since MK is your favorite park. Very easy to get there.

We’ve stayed in the garden wing and tower, and I wouldn’t stay garden wing again. I love the atmosphere of the tower rooms with the excitement down below from chef mickeys. We stayed theme park view and agree with a previous person that said I think lake view would be better. It was nice for the fireworks but your pretty much just looking at a parking lot.

I vote for a tower lake view room. I think you’ll love it!

The Contemporary is a sentimental favorite of ours (we stayed there on our first and many other visits). We have stayed in the garden wing and it was fine - it is quiet and we could avoid using the very busy elevators in the main building. That being said, we have enjoyed staying in the tower too. The TPV room was great for one trip, but the water view is nicer IMHO. The convenience to the MK is unmatched, especially if you’ll be going there often. Great restaurants and you have easy access to the other monorail resorts.

I am not a fan of the “Incredibles” room theme, but that’s just me. Different strokes……

Also, be aware that not all park view rooms at the Poly are created equal. Especially if you get in one of the buildings that sits perpendicular to the lake, you can still get a bit of a lake view from room classified as park views.

I'd go for the park view and then work with the desk to get the best of the rest ... and pocket the difference.
Do you enjoy the pool area there?,some say it’s not a favourite?

It’s not Disney’s best pool, but it’s certainly passable. And (almost) always has abundant chairs available with a good mix of sun and shade - can’t say the same about some other resorts. It’s very relaxing on the shores of Bay Lake, IMO. They also just got new really comfy pool furniture, which is nice.

I agree, we stayed in a lake view room a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The balcony is a fun place to sit rather than just being in the room. There are always things to see on the lake. We prefer it to the theme park view rooms since the price is lower and with theme park you mostly look at a parking lot and can only see the tops of the taller structures @ MK.

We never had any issues using the elevators, maybe it is a time of day thing or they are busier certain times of the year. If you plan to mostly go to MK, you can't go wrong with any of the 3 resorts on the monorail look. If you mostly want to do Epcot/HS, then staying on the opposite side of the property wouldn't be my first choice.

Disney resorts tend to all be very pricey so it mostly a matter of budget, personal preference and how you like the theming of their resorts compared to staying off-site.

Contemporary was the first resort I stayed at and is Disney World to me. The sights, sounds, everything.

However, when we go now, MK is not a priority for us so it's hard to justify the Contempo's price tag. I still like visiting to walk around, eat, shop, etc. though.

All that said - if MK is your favorite, then absolutely go for it. It's a piece of Disney World history and is a bucket list item for many.

Agree with previous poster, CR is iconic Disney for me as well. Many great memories made staying there when my kids were little! Fast forward many years and we own DVC at BLT and still go now with our kids and Granddaughter! Love it!!
