Contemporary Tower room - not a happy experience

Yes my understanding is that the hotel was full, however when I spoke to CM's regarding the problems they never accessed the computer to even look for additional space, they simply agreed that it was quite loud in our room.

I'm sure the busy summer months take a toll on all CM's in the parks and at the resorts. At least I know not to book us in at the Contemporary again - maybe we'll stay offsite next time and give that a try. We really don't use the EMH much and I don't mind driving to/from the parks so staying offsite won't really burden us.

I just wanted to add if you do stay off-site next time, try the new Nickolodeon hotel. We stayed there for 8 nights and it was a GREAT hotel. I believe all of their rooms are 2 bedroom family suites, so Mom and Dad get a nice room with a king size bed, the kids get a room themed in Nick and with bunk beds, and their is also a living room with mini-kitchen. The pools are really cool and the hotel overall was themed wonderfully for kids and very quiet and not too far from WDW.

I am so sorry to hear about your "loud" trip. I am a sensitive sleeper and can hear everything. That would have put a damper on my vacation as well. I hope your next trip is much much better!

I guess that's part of doing your homework and knowing what things you might be more sensative to than others.

I'm an early rise, so the noise at Chef Mickey's would have no effect on me and I sleep with headphones (so I don't hear anything). But if I were someone who was more sensative to noises, I might not book the CR Towers cuz given the way it's built the noise can tend to carry.

Unfortunately, when your there during a very busy time, there may not be an option of moving rooms.

This reply exemplifies the change in Disney's quality of customer service over the last few years. Yes it is the guests fault, after all they chose to stay here! If you reread all these posts you will note that the cm did not even look to see if a room change was possible. The hotel was full, so why look?...even basic customer service would allow for a more sympathetic reply than they got. Does anyone else see the nonsense in that kind of thinking?

okay, we have reservations for the Tower at the Contemorary, mind you we do not spend a lot of time in our room, is it worth it to be close to everything or would it be better to change my room to one of the wings? Is the walk a long way? I am just curious cause besides saving the extra money on the room, I dont want to spend all that extra money to stay in the tower and end up unhappy. Any info. would be great. Thanks

We have done both. We stayed in the north wing and liked our room just fine! We had a view of the mononrail, which my dd loved! It was a small hike to the pool and the tower, but just being at WDW on site was enough for us. The only way I stayed in the Tower was when we got a surprise upgrade - talk about Disney magic! We could have never afforded it (we should be staying in a value resort but I'm addicted to the MK resorts). I would stay in a wing room again to save money, especially after the new rooms are completed. Can't wait to see them!

Has anyone stayed at CR Tower in mid-September? I'm assuming the noise level would be considerably less than at peak times, but I'm curious as to what to expect. The noise won't bother me too much though. I'm bringing my iPod and loading it with relaxing music to help me fall asleep if it's noisy. Plus, I've wanted to stay at this hotel since I was a little girl, so I think I can put up with just about anything!
