Contemporary rumor substantiated again....

Hey y'all--

We are here, what a great week (except for the rain coming tomorrow but we can work around that!). Anyway, I hate to give away a cm's id, but someone who is directly affected told my dh today that when we see him next time (our upcoming post-Thanksgiving trip) we'd have to meet with him in a different location because: Disney is getting ready to demo some existing structures at the Contemp. in order to build the new, 8 story DVC resort. He said he's seen all the plans as well.

That's all. And if you're thinking "wow, just another rumor with no facts" send me a pm and I'll give you more details. Although the rumor has been around for awhile this is the first time I've heard of a more definite timeline.


Another rumor heard from cm in barbershop: they're getting ready to start rehearsals of a new live show (somewhere in the Land) based on High School Musical.

We just returned from our WDW trip and visited the Contemporary. We spoke to a few different CM's there and at first every one of them denied that DVC was coming to the Contemporary. After a few minutes of questions, they all finally admitted that it is a go. One of them told us to go outside the Food and Fun Center to take a look - she told us that there were markings for the walkway to the new building. We took a walk outside and sure enough there were "Soft Dig" markings all over the place.

During last year's trip (we stayed at the Contemporary) we were told by a CM that they were going to build a walkway from the Grand Concourse to the DVC building. He also said that the Concourse Steakhouse was being moved to the first floor, the Food and Fun Center was being moved to the Concourse and the Arcade was also being moved to the Concourse. It appears that outside the Concourse on the North Wing side, some sort of construction has started.

This CM also stated that they are having a difficult time filling the North Wing rooms. She said that nobody wants to stay there because for the same price they can stay in the South Wing in a totally renovated building. Disney would never renovate 3/4 of a hotel and leave 1/4 alone.

Agree. That alone is the biggest predictor that something is going to happen at the Contemporary.

okay the plans I saw was what 11 stories or higher....

so if they are only building 8 floors - that means difference plans.

I like those plans.....

Please let this rumor be true.....

I think someone showed a plan that had 15 fls. way to high.

Are you kidding me? My kids could care less about a new DVC at the Contemporary, but High School Musical??? I can't wait to tell them about this, they will be pysched!!

Heck, I'm excited about BOTH--I want a new DVC and my kids are ALL ABOUT High School Musical. We'll have to wait and see...I am still betting that they will announce at the Oct. press event.
