We were caught with kind of the same situation. Our dilemna was use our timeshare for this trip or stay at CR. When will rates like these ever happen again for SoG guests? We opted for 1 nt. of CR then our timeshare because w/d, full kitchen, more space, home theater, and the large whirlpool tub do more to enhance our vacation than a regular hotel room on WDW property. We have family joining us, so we offered to get them rooms on site at our discount, let them stay with us, or help them find other accomodations. If your friends, like us, really want those creature comforts not found in a regular hotel room, I wouldn't pressure them into staying at CR. If I were you I wouldn't sacrifice staying at CR either. There's no reason you have to stay in the same location to vacation together.
