My husband would really love to stay at the Contemporary with our family, can anyone tell me anything what they liked or disliked about this resort? Share your experience. Price wise is it worth it?

CR is hands down our favorite resort. We own DVC over at Bay Lake. The location of this resort cannot be beat! The pool is great, the marina activities are super, I ADORE the shopping inside and te quick serve at Contempo is fantastic! Rooms here are among the largest on property. You won't be disappointed!

We loved the Contemporary, and thus far it is our favorite. We stayed in the Tower. Some of our favorite features are:

  • Rooms: Very large, and nicely appointed. The views are wonderful, whether you get a lake view or a theme park view. We opted for the Lake View, since we were on club level, we had access to view the fireworks from the lounge if we wanted. The bathrooms are a nice size, though the sinks are sort of weird. The closets are ample, but there was limited drawer space for a family of 5.
  • Pool: Simple, but good. We were always able to find loungers at the pool. My kids loved that the bulls-eye pool was so close to the main pool. They loved being able to swim in both. We rented a Cabana for the afternoon at the bulls-eye pool, and it was an amazing afternoon. You are right on the lake, so the views in all directions is spectacular.
  • The resort is very compact. You don't have to leave the building to get drinks or snacks. Everything is close by.
  • The convenience of walking to the Magic Kingdom! This was heavenly. We could walk right past the crowds lining up for buses and monorails and be back in our room within minutes.

The one minor inconvenience was that at certain times of the day, you might have to wait a while for the elevator, as many people are using it to exit the monorails. It was not a big deal and it didn't inconvenience us.

I agree with the pp. We are also BLT owners and love the location. You can't beat just walking over to MK. The Contempo Cafe is on of the better quick service locations that I have tried at a resort, but I have not tried all of them so I can't say it is the best. I don't think anyone I know that has stayed there has been disappointed.

We have stayed at CR twice in the garden wing to save some money and even loved being there in the wing. You don't get the amazing room views but you also don't have to wait for the elevators. Our #1 priority was to be on the 1st floor so that we would have a patio. Also there is a covered walkway over the main building which keeps you dry unless there is a huge storm. The pool is nice enough, always has tables/chairs available and it is nice to look at the lake. Contempo Cafe is a decent counter service and it is cool to watch the monorail while eating. We loved California Grill but weren't very impressed by The Wave and after a bad experience at Chef Mickeys years ago I couldn't bring myself to try it again. Walking to MK can not be beat at the end of the night, when we didn't stay at CR I would always leave during the fireworks because I couldn't stand the massive bus crowds back to the resorts. I was never interested in staying at CR but my daughter picked it and I ended up really loving it.

We are not regulars at the World, and I could not see paying so much for a place to sleep. When my 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with a serious heart condition, she and her twin asked if we would take them to the World for their birthday, which was just before her surgery was to take place. There was a package on Southwest Air that was about the same as my own pricing, but it was at the Contemporary. I took it.

Goes to show that making a judgment without having done it was very very wrong. This was a great place for us to stay. I wholeheartedly recommend it and wish I had done this long before.

The rooms are larger than others, and it really makes a difference. The compactness of the facility was terrific - and being able to sit on the bay lake balcony from our room and watch the twins playing ping pong 8 floors below at 2 am was priceless. The points above about the Contempo Cafe are spot on - you are right on top of everything. The pool, the campfire, the fireworks, terrific. The Wave is also a great place to eat. Walking to and from the MK...so cool, and of course having the monorail in the middle of the hotel...well..say no more.

Wifi and mousekeeping wasn't good, but it has not been good anywhere else we've stayed either. Did not have any issues with elevators - but we are rope drop people and usually like to be out of the parks before closing.

Pull the trigger on this - you'll be glad you did.
