We are not regulars at the World, and I could not see paying so much for a place to sleep. When my 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with a serious heart condition, she and her twin asked if we would take them to the World for their birthday, which was just before her surgery was to take place. There was a package on Southwest Air that was about the same as my own pricing, but it was at the Contemporary. I took it.
Goes to show that making a judgment without having done it was very very wrong. This was a great place for us to stay. I wholeheartedly recommend it and wish I had done this long before.
The rooms are larger than others, and it really makes a difference. The compactness of the facility was terrific - and being able to sit on the bay lake balcony from our room and watch the twins playing ping pong 8 floors below at 2 am was priceless. The points above about the Contempo Cafe are spot on - you are right on top of everything. The pool, the campfire, the fireworks, terrific. The Wave is also a great place to eat. Walking to and from the MK...so cool, and of course having the monorail in the middle of the hotel...well..say no more.
Wifi and mousekeeping wasn't good, but it has not been good anywhere else we've stayed either. Did not have any issues with elevators - but we are rope drop people and usually like to be out of the parks before closing.
Pull the trigger on this - you'll be glad you did.
