I posted a comment on the "do you like the CRV look" poll thread, and thought it was worth a discussion of its own.

I think Disnay may be setting themselves up for a ton of "request" headaches with the layout of the CRV (VCR?) resort.

If you think people are disappointed not to get an "Illuminations View" at BCV, wait until you hear about those who can't see "Wishes"!! Or are not able to look out from their balcony at MK and Cindy's castle.

Not that a view of Seven Seas Lagoon with GF/Poly or Bay Lake with WL is bad, but they really aren't quite the same, are they?

If they do this resort, I think they need to create two views (like BWV) and I believe that the points should be the same for each.

That would give CRV owners first crack at the MK views, which they rightfully should have. That ought to really spur some sales!!

What do you all think?

I think they have to do two sets of views.

I agree, have two views but the same points schedule for all.

I agree with needing the two different views, but I do not agree that they should be the same amount of points. If you stay at the GF, Poly or CR through CRO you pay more for the more desireable views, just as you do with points at the BWV. I believe it should be the same situation at the CRV if they have specific requestable views. I am sure either way you will probably need to own there in order to get the more desireable views, especially if similar points are required for a castle view as opposed to a Bay Lake view. I would probably not buy there just for the view as I would be happy with any view at the CRV :cool1: .

dvc says they won't do 2 points structures for the same DVC again. this is only for BWV - never again.

although Disney has changed it mind....

I happen to like the Bay Lake side - you can see the EWP from that side.... It happens every night. Wishes doesn't.

Illiuinations is an every night thing.

besides the Cont is so close - when we had a MK view - the fireworks were so LOUD. I preferred the Bay side - mother of course preferred the MK side.

I agree. I don't know if they have to be the same points but I like the idea of the two views so you don't have to check in at the crack of dawn to vie, beg, or cry (or other un-adult behavior) for that special room. I want to reserve it and be assured it will be there when we arrive at 6pm. I also think it's a great benefit for the owners of the resort to get first dibs on what they want.

Lisa...this is my thinking exactly. Disney should do this for their own protection (as they did at BWV for the Boardwalk View). I'd hate to be a front desk CM if every check-in included a sob story (or rant) about how that person deserves the best view!

And a great sales tool too...though this resort might not need that!

I agree with Lisa and Granny. It will be interesting to see what happens. Can't wait!

DH would go with MK and I would like the bay. But yes, I think it should be a category and not a request. Then you have to deal with the floor level.

There should be a place for all to view the fireworks, music piped in!

I think this resort would have a higher per night point schedule than other on sites. I hope they don't make Saturdays even more expensive like they do at HH. Could they do that? Have they ever commented on that sort of thing? I could see more locals going there for a one night stay. I agree, the MK is WDW to many.

I think the side of the building facing Wishes is the exterior hallways rinkwide was talking about. :stir:

Can you imagine being on one of those outside hallways in an August thunderstorm? It would make ToT look like a picnic!

I think it should be a category, not a request.

But I also think it should be more points than the lake/pool view.

love it - only at the Cont is the parking lot view more valued than a lake view....

the MK is on the parking lot side of the resort.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that Wishes was shown every night. Spectromagic isn't every night, but Wishes definitely is, IIRC.

Nope, Wishes isn't every night during the "off" season.

I also agree that there should be two views and the view of MK should cost more. Not that I want to PAY more, but it is only fair.

The best thing for Disney to do is sell it as TWO seperate resorts.

The rooms facing Bay Lake could me called Contemporary at Bay Lake Villa's

the rooms facing MK could be called Contemporary of the Better View Villa's

This is just another solution to make things easier for my fellow DVC'ers!!!!!

After the last couple of days, if CRV isn't happening I think Disney would be nuts. What am I saying... Disney isn't nuts... This is going to happen!

I don't intend to be argumentative, but Wishes is every night. Fantasy in the Sky used to only be nightly during peak season, but since Wishes started in October, 2003, it has been every night, except nights when there is a special event (ie. Night of Joy, MNSSHP, etc.). Check the historical and future schedules and you'll see it there every night.

That said, I'd pay more points for the MK view and I think it will be in high demand. I've had both the MK and the Bay Lake view and both are nice. During the off-season, when Wishes is early, I might not pay extra points because I prefer to watch Wishes from within the MK and the Bay Lake view allows you to watch the EWP from your room later on. But during peak season when the kids are in bed long before Wishes, I'd pay a high premium to watch from my balcony.

Either way, I sure hope this rumor materializes. We LOVE the CR and would do an add-on in a heartbeat.

After looking at the drawing again, I was wondering how many rooms would actually have a good view. The MK view is obviously good and the opposite side would have a view of Bay lake through the 'C' shape and some of the interior side of the building with the better ones being in the center so as not to view the building. What would be the view of the rest? I haven't stayed in the CR or a building this size and shape, so am not as familiar as others.

the top part of the 'C' will see the woods/tennis court along Bay Lake - might see the fireworks on the balcony.

the bottom part of the 'C' will see the South wing, swimming pool of the Cont.

the two inside parts of the C will see each other and the landscaping that DVC will do - which will be much, much, much better than what the Cont has right now.

alot of this resort will see the MK fireworks - the same part will see the parking lot....

of course considering the complaints about BWV - this will be nice for several people.

if you need help with your luggage or grocery - then bell services will be glad to help you. you would like all the shared DVC resorts - check in at the front desk of the Cont, where if you need bell services you tell them then.

let just hope that DVC talks to Cont FIRST and lets them know that the DVC members get the better rooms at DCV not the people that rent them....

of course the big complaint of guests will get even worst - there is no place to park......

Great comments all....I guess we'll have to see. It does seem to me that there will definitely be some rooms with a much more "high demand" view and Disney will have to worry about that.

I know I won't since I don't plan on buying points there, and if we stayed there any view would work for us! :)
