i am thinking of going to disney world on April 22-27th and am considering the contemporary resort but the only thing that seems to be available or the club level rooms and suites which are really expensive. Do you think all of the regular rooms are really sold out? I also looked on orbitz and they had no rooms available at the contemporary resort for those dates. I did find rooms available at the Bay Tower which i guess is a part of contemporary resort. Has anyone stayed at Bay Lake or Contemporary for that matter and can tell me what the big difference is between the two. I really wanted to stay a monrail resort and that is why I was considering the Contemporary. I am not sure if I would like the theming of the Polynesian which also has construction going on. I hope this is in the right forum.

BLT is the DVC portion if the Contemporary. The monorail doesn't run through it directly, and you'll get a studio, 1 or 2 bedroom villa over there.

I can pull up a tower theme park view room WITHOUT the discount. So full price, but that's it aside from CL, so yeah. Looks like they really are all sold out. You could also look at the GF for monorail access m

I wonder if the online room reservation system is similar to the online ADR system, that is, if someone cancels their reservation will it show up as available online or can you only find out if you call? Anybody out there have any experience with this?

If they show up online, maybe grab a room only at GF or BLT and then keep checking for rooms at CR. Of course you probably won't get a discount and you may "stuck" with the room you booked at GF/BLT if you don't cancel in time but I believe room only reservations can be cancelled quite near your stay time.

Have you tried extending your dates? I just did a search for 4/22-4/28 and got bay lake view $556 a night. You can book it, then call back later and have them shorten your stay and change your check out day to 4/27. I had to do this over the Xmas break when we went.

Hummingbird is right. Keep extending your stay out and you will get a reservation. Then call back and shorten the stay.
