Thoughts on the MK view room from the main tower? We booked that room and I'm very excited!

We stayed on the 11th floor last year with the MK view and it was spectacular! You could see the fireworks so clear at night without all the crowds and the dawn breaking over Magic Kingdom was beautiful! I would highly recommend staying at the Contemporary with that view!

We stayed in the tower theme park view over Thanksgiving and LOVED IT! Totally worth it. Twice, we watched the MK fireworks from our balcony in our PJs with cupcakes from Contempo Cafe....my favorite part of our trip! Plus there was also the water pageant! Nothing better than that, especially with kids. And waking up each morning, seeing the sights and sounds of MK also waking up, was awesome.

We really loved being able to just walk to MK as well. Unfortunately, on our Epcot day, the monorail was down in the morning so we had to take a bus, but we were able to take the monorail back from Epcot. The room was huge for our family of five as well. Being able to walk downstairs to the food, stores, etc. was also a great perk, especially for our 13yo, since we allowed him to go down by himself to get a snack, refill his mug, etc.

I was never very interested in staying at the contemporary due to the theming, or what I thought was the lack of theming. However, the view, room size and being able to walk to MK made it totally worth it.

The MK view from the CR tower is my favourite view in all of WDW. It is a mountaintop type of panoramic view of the MK, the GF, the Poly and the seven seas lagoon. Some people don't like it because the parking lot is below, but I was so busy looking out over the entire area that I didn't even notice the parking lot. As PP's said watching fireworks from your CR balcony is truly memorable. You will LOVE IT!
(Request an odd numbered room on a high floor for the best view possible.)

Plus, staying in a resort where everything is in the same building is awesome! The only other place that you can get that luxury on the monorail line is at the GF RPC CL! But the view just isn't as good from the GF (IMO) as what you get from the CR.

Walking to/from the MK is a perk that is really wonderful at busy times. You are in your room before most guests have even boarded their bus/boat or monorail. Strolling past the long lines waiting for transportation 'home' at the end of a busy day - priceless!

WE LOVE the CR!!!!!

Enjoy!

We loved our view! I want to say we were on the 5th floor, but I might be mistaken. I loved getting up in the morning and sitting on the balcony looking out at Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom!

Here are also a couple taken from the walkway between the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower. If you do not have access to that walkway the viewing area just outside on the same level in the Contemporary should get similar shots as well as your own balcony!

Enjoy your tower stay!

Curious...we will be staying there in a few months...what is the difference between the odd and even numbers when it comes to the view? Thanks.

Excellent question! With the odd numbered rooms, you will be looking towards the MK when sitting on the bed. Some folks on here will recommend requesting an odd numbered room given this detail.

For example, this is from 4843. The headboard would be to the left. Hope that helps!

It is the only place that we stay anymore.

If your room is oriented the right way, you can lie in bed and look at the castle. Also - I don't mind the down time in the room as much as I used to (I travel with people who need lots of down time) - because I am out on the balcony. Last year we watched the marathon races.

I think it is the best place to watch the fireworks - even better than being in the park. Yes - you lose the centeredness around the castle, but you don't have a 6 ft guy standing in front of you holding up an ipad to take pictures. You don't have to stake out a spot and you can be in your jammies sipping wine. There is no crush to leave the park. It is divine.

Plus you can sometimes see all kinds of interesting things going on in the park overnight. Last time we were there, they kept running the castle projection show over and over at around 5 am. And there was a lot with cranes when they were refurbishing Big Thunder.

AS GADisneyDad14 said, the odd numbered room views face the MK when sitting/lying on the bed. If you want to look out your patio doors from your bed and see the castle, this is the room for you!

in the even numbered rooms, you get essentially the same view, but oriented differently from inside on the bed.

It's not a deal breaker by any means, but a nice little extra if you get it.

Best park views on property! We own at BLT and I love looking out at the park and even at the monorail sliding into the CR. You won't regret staying there.

The 6th floor is the lowest floor on the MK side of the CR Tower, the monorail enters the hotel on the 5th floor.

So follow up question. I also read it i better to have a higher room number as it puts you closer to the MK. Would it be best to select far from elevator for this or is the elevator in the center of the hotel? My husband thinks we should just ask for upper floor and leave it at that so that hopefully we get the one request where as with multiple requests we may be less likely to get them. Thanks again :)

I never get into the location of the room - other than it being on the good side of the hotel. I take the first room that is ready. Two trips ago we got there at 6 a.m. There was a room available, so we took it. There is no bad view. This also is a personal thing with me. I try to not set myself up for a string of small disappointments that can snowball into something larger. Tower theme park side - I'm good. I don't want to be even a tiny bit bothered that I requested a certain floor and a certain orientation and didn't get them.

But - if it matters to you - it never hurts to ask.

Very subjective opinion but I do prefer a "higher number" room when talking about the TPV side. This map should help illustrate. Ignore the "CL Lounge" - I did this for something on the CL thread but the same logic applies to any floor.

As you see, the highest number rooms on each floor are on the northwest quadrant. This has two benefits: 1) closest to MK, and 2) furthest from Chef Mickey's. I would rather be on this side of the building.... BUT ultimately I would be content with ANY TPV room here! You're only talking about subtle differences here.

The elevators are in the middle (this map isn't totally accurate, there are elevators on both sides of that middle crossover hallway).

Thanks! I guess it was probably the 6th floor or so. I know we weren't too high up and it was kind of a pain to try and get an elevator down during peak times because by the time they got to our floor, they were all full. But, certainly couldn't argue with that view!

My son loved sitting on the balcony and just watching everything go by - boats, monorail, buses, electric water parade. He really wanted to sleep out there! I will never ever forget his reaction to his first Disney trip!
