Contemporary Reservations

I just made reservations at the Contemporary resort for Sept 9 thru Sept 12 in the tower. My family and I just love it there and haven't been in a couple of years. I made a down payment over the phone when I made the reservations.

Now in the mail I recieved a letter from Disney stating I will need to mail in the remainder before Aug 19. Does anyone know if this is new? I've always been able to pay the remaining balance on the date of check in.

Also has anyone else stayed at CR in a while? We are staying on the side opposite MK. Just wondered if its a bad view now with the DVC construction?

If you booked a room-only reservation, a one night deposit would have been taken over the phone (or payable within two weeks) and the balance due at check-in. If you booked a package, you always have to pay that off prior to check-in. The general rules with a package is payment is due in full 45 days prior to your arrival.


There is currently no DVC construction going on to my understanding. The tower and south wing are either complete or almost complete with their rehab.

That is odd...I would mention the 45 day rule, but from the 19th of Aug to the 9th of Sept is less than 45 days so it cant be that you have booked a packeage, if I were you I would call and find out why.

When we stay at CR, we always get the view of Bay Lake (the non MK view). To me, the best thing about this view is if you wake up early enough, you can see the sun rising over the trees behind the water. It is breathtaking!! Plus you can see the Electrical Light Parade go by at night. I love a water view, be it Disney or anywhere, and if I want to see the Magic Kingdom, I just go there. Even though we all pay top price to stay at CR, realistically, at least for our family, we are not in our room enough to take advantage of the MK view. Also, you are overlooking the parking lot as well in order to see the MK, and to me, it detracts a little. And the difference in the cost is nice too!! Have fun!!! We love CR!!!!!!!

I also had an unexpected message on my room-only confirmation for Sept 1-4 about paying ahead of time. When I called CRO to inquire about it, they said it was a computer glitch that caused everyone to get payment deadlines on their confirmation, when in fact room-only balances are due ON CHECK-IN. So, even Disney's computers have bad days.

I had that same message on my room only reservation last year. I called and they said it was a mistake, balance was due at check in.
That is a long time, on going computer glitch.
