I just booked my family in at the Contemporary for next September. We are booked in on the 14th. floor concierge. We stayed at the Grand Floridian last month and LOVED it but wanted to try something different. Did I make the wrong choice? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

depends.

the CR is not the GF.

I happen to like CR better! just a matter of taste.

My parents and I stayed on the 14th floor in May 2000 because we got a free upgrade there at check-in and we thought it was ok. Personally we like the 12th floor Atrium Club better because they serve excatly what the 14th floor does, the lounge is bigger and the rooms are less expensive.

You will love it!:thumbsup2 It is so wonderful. Nearly every time we got off the elevator, a CM would great us by name. The food was wonderful. We had a lake view which we loved. We'd go to the balcony in the lounge to see the MK. Having dessert on the balcony while watching Wishes is to die for! Perfect view, no crowds, etc. Plus, they play the soundtrack.

You don't need a big lounge. During our week, hardly any people used the lounge. There are only a few actual rooms, the rest are suites.

For us and for some others that have posted here, MK view makes or breaks the CR. Problem with Concierge is that you cannot guarantee MK view so for us, this is always a deal breaker. Our preference is to get MK view and as far as breakfast etc. goes, use the food+fun center below or room service.

What do you get out of MK view? The magic of the MK and the castle from your room. On a nice day, just sit out the balcony - see all the boats, monorails, resorts, MK - at sunset and at night you see all the lights. The castle changes colors. You can see fireworks from your room. The other Bayview is nice as well but you lose all of this.

Well on the 14th floor Tower Club if you book any type suite that has a guaranteed view of the Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake, because it says that in the description of the room. It's the standard rooms on the 12th floor Atrium Club and the standard rooms on the 14th floor where a Magic Kingdom view is not a gurantee.

Also not sure if you know this the Food & Fun Center is closed and right now they have a temporary cs location open on the 4th floor and next August their brand new cs location is to open up where the Concourse Steakhouse is and the name is going to be Chef Mickey's Express.

Well if you can guarantee that you have the MK view (as opposed one of MK OR Bay lake view) then you can have your cake and eat it to.....

But would you or anyone else be willing to pay 3X more for a suite to get a Magic Kingdom view, compared to what a standard Club Level room costs? You still get the same ammenties that the Club Level floors offer and both lounges have a Magic Kingdom view so you could go there anytime to look at it, if you ended up with a Bay Lake view.

That is a choice you will have to make and you would have to consider things that are important to you.

For us, we will pay an exhorbitant rate for an MK view - so much that we will pay for a confirmed MK tower view over, say something in the wings. This is more important to us to the extent that we are willing to pass up concierge-light which risks putting us in Bay lake.

Now the question then becomes, do we need the heavy concierge and the suites in addition? For us, it is nice but if the added price is significant, we'll opt for room service for breakfast and save our money for something else. (don't know what the dollars are in your case)

Don't know if this is helping you except that stating that the MK view is worth a lot (in our opinion). You'll have to weigh the rest.

Well when it comes to my family and I the times we stay at the Contemporary it is on the Atrium Club and if we get the Magic Kingdom view great, if not it's no big deal. The reason is because we have had it on every stay there expect for one time and we know that we can see it from the lounge. So we are willing to pay for the extra Club Level service with or without the view.

They weren't talking about your family specifically, they were just saying that it's a choice in general that families make, whatever best suits the OP and their family is what they should choose.

It's always been one of our favorites due in part to the fact that it was the
first resort we stayed in way back in '93. To this day, we still stop by to see
it and feel nostalgic. It's wonderful. I don't know your personal tastes, but I
don't think you'll be disappointed. The monorail whooshing through is enough
to "WOW" anybody! Enjoy! :thumbsup2
