WOW!!! I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE BOARDS!!!!!!!

After getting my User Name set up a while ago I had a lot of trouble getting my account activated, which I dubbed "Activation Aggrevation"! Enough with that!

I want to thank all of you for the wealth of information found on this site! You are all very generous with info and insight and it is truly amazing how much information there is out there on DW and how much you need to know, much of which can be found on this website thanks to all that contribute! This is our first trip to Disney and without this site and the "unofficial guide book", I would be totally lost.

My family of 4 (DS 7 and DD 4 (almost 5)) will be visiting DW August 14 through the 22 staying at the Contemporary Resort on the limited conceierge floor (5+2 Dreamaker package). I booked the trip through AAA and have put in a request for a MK view. I have booked all my PS for the week. I did not get CRT, but got a PS for the Princess breakfast at Epcot.

Questions for the experts:

1. I read somewhere on this board that you should fax or call CRO prior to your visit to ensure that your requests are in as they assign rooms in advance of your arrival. Not sure if I have all the facts correct on this topic and could not find the string again. What do you recommend to increase my chances of getting a MK view? Am I to go through my travel agent at AAA?

2. Do the rooms on the 12th floor have a mini-refrigerator in them or is this a request?

3. Can Conceierge help me get a PS for CRT? Should I call CR Conceierge in advance to see what they can do or should I just wait until I am down there?

4. I included the Prince and Princess addon to my package, anything I should know in advance?

5. My kids are not good swimmers. Does the CR provide floats (tubes), safety jackets, etc. or do I have to bring my own?

6. What is the advantage of having an odd numbered room vs. and even numbered room in the tower MK side?

7. Has anyone booked the fishing activity at the CR? Any thoughts or advice? Good/bad?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Welcome to the DISboards! I haven't stayed at the Contemporary yet so I can't answer your questions specific to the resort. CRT is a very hard PS to get. You have to call at exactly 90 days out at 7am when they open and get very lucky. There are cancellations sometimes so just keep trying. Good luck!

Welcome to the Dis! I'll answer what I can.

You should have your room request noted on the reservation. I don't know if CR accepts faxes (some resorts don't).

I don't know about the fridges on the 12th floor. We are staying on the 14th in Sept. We have requested a Bay lake view. We can see the MK from the lounge and the lake from our room. I really like the lake view, it's so pretty and relaxing. I'm looking forward to viewing the lake parade & Epcot fireworks from our room.

All WDW have life vests you can borrow. Just ask the life guard at the pool.

As for the PS assistance, I called the Concierge when I was about 100 days out. They made everything for me that day, I did not have to wait until I was 90 days out.

I would call them at 407.824.1775 (9-6 est). They can help you with all your PS's and answer all of your questions. Call now, don't wait.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the input. I will call. Anyone else with comments/suggestions?

Here's what I know:

1) They do accept faxes but I don't think it matters anymore than having your request noted on CRO. The resort downloads the CRO information about 5 days out - so whatever you do, don't try to change anything with CRO within 5 days of arrival. To increase your chances of getting what you want, check in as early as possible. Also, don't discount the Bay Lake view as opposed to the MK view. We actually prefer the Bay Lake view - you can always go to the observation deck to see the MK from the CR, but the tranquility and view on the Bay Lake side is wonderful to have outside your balcony.

3) Yes, the concierge can help, but don't wait until you are there.

5) CR provides all that stuff.

6) odd and even numbered rooms are based on what side you are on (MK or Bay Lake).

Both views have even and odd room numbers. When on MK side if you have an odd number room you can sit in bed and see the castle (if your drapes are opened). I've read where people love falling asleep while watching Cinderella's castle change colors.

I think I can help with a few of your questions:

1. Although many people say not to bother faxing room requests, I know for a fact that the room assigner looked at my fax. I know this because my TA told me that a fax from me would "carry more weight" than a request on my behalf from her, so the only requests made were in my fax, which I sent 3 days prior to my arrival. I was given a room on the 11th floor (I actually made no specific floor request), non-smoking (I have asthma), MK view - the view was spectacular!! This was the 1st time I ever bothered to fax a request, and I'm glad I did. Others have had success simply by arriving as early as possible and asking nicely.

6. As DisneyWisher said, odd-numbered rooms on the MK side have beds facing the castle.

Welcome to the DIS and have a great trip!! :sunny:

We stayed on the 14th floor last March/April 2004.

#3---They are only able to assist with CRT ressies before the 90 day mark. Once the spots are taken, they can't work magic for you. But they can work magic within the CR rest. in the resort.

#5--yes, they do have life vests and such. However----my dh had to go down to the water activities to get one (not right next to the pool) and i believe there was a small fee. We kept it for the duration of our stay and brought it back and forth to our room and the pool. We had to do that on our own---lifeguards/staff were of NO assistance in obtaining that. At the Poly in 2000, they had them right at the pool. At PO in 1992, i believe they were at the pool, as well.

I loved this resort. I loved everything about it. It was a magical trip for us and i hope for you as well.
