Hi,

I have a split stay coming up in september, OKW, CR and BWV. For some reason Im just not feeling contemporary, even though i have a main tower theme park view room. Ive watched some videos and it just seems really concrete and less thened than the other resorts. Has anyone been there lately that can tell me more positive things about the resort? Thanks

So it's nice? I went to chef mickeys once but didnt explore much beyond that

I like CR because there is less walking. You get off the monorail, go down the escalator and up the elevator and you are at your room. Other resorts involve (sometimes long) walks to your building.
Also the rooms are the biggest in the deluxe catagory.
it’s a nice hotel even with little theming.

Thanks! We're definitely still excited and whi kniws might end up becoming a favorite

It does seem to be a divisive hotel. I'd say it's the least "Disney" of all of the moderate/deluxe resorts as the theme isn't an immersive escape to another region like most of the other properties. It's theme is more an idea of "modern design" which isn't exclusive to Disney World... I'll abstain from making comparisons, but other hotel chains offer "modern" design. :)

Personally, I love the Grand Canyon Concourse when viewed from upper levels along with being walking distance to the MK. You also have much easier monorail access compared to GF/Poly. Downside is definitely the buses as they're shared with Wilderness Lodge at off-peak times.

We love the contemporary!

All of the Disney resorts tend to be a matter of personal preference and you can find LOTS of older threads on this topic. We stayed at the Contemporary again last year and really enjoyed it. Disney still has no other hotel with a monorail running through the building which is a really neat bit of 'theming' even after all these years. It is a short walk to Magic Kingdom and at the end of the day when exiting the park, you can hop the monorail with the next stop being the Contemporary. We never had issues with elevators as I see others mention. No one hotel is closest to every park, so it is also a matter of which park(s) you plan to spend the majority of your time.

We are booked here the week after Thanksgiving in a TPV tower room because our original resort is closed and this is where they moved us.
I wouldn't have chosen it, but I do think it's a resort you should experience at least once if it's in your budget. I would never be able to afford it normally, but it was a price protected move for us, so technically we got it for 66% off rack rate.
I say do it, especially if your already doing a split stay anyway.

I love the Contemporary. It's a Nostalgia meets Modern kind of place for me. I love the layout, the artwork, the monorail and the rooms are very large (compared to what I can usually afford). I'd love to stay there again someday.

I didn't know it shared busses but most of the resorts do too, right? That view is beautiful though, its a shame there's no fireworks! Im leaving in 24 days so ill keep reading up. I was originally at GF then poly now CR.

My favorite part my day days were watching the castle turn colors at night(they light it up not the fireworks) with a hot chocolate and having my tea on the balcony in the morning just looking at the castle. I love the contemporary.

The CR was never on our list as the theme/decor just seemed blah to us. With that said, we stayed there for the first time last December and it was great. I didn't go into it thinking I wouldn't like it, but I certainly didn't think I'd like (love) it as much as I did. The Poly will always be my favorite, but the CR is nice and is a resort we will go back to (we are actually booked at the CR for the 50th anniversary next year).

I fought going there for years, it never appealed to me at all, however a few nights in one of the theme park view rooms was on my husbands WDW resort bucket list, so last year we finally stayed at Bay Lake Tower. Honestly - it was pretty nice! And for the first time in many, many trips to WDW we saw the fireworks at MK! All from the comfort of our room. It was worth the stay for sure.

That's what I'm hoping happens for us. Other than All star I havent been to a resort I dont like. When i was at all star our room had a leak and they pulled the carpet up while we were still in the room, clothes thrown on the floor, stuff all wet...but disney made it up to us in a massive way.

The Contemporary is my least favorite deluxe resort as far as theming goes, but, having said that, the fact that it is on Bay Lake, and one of my favorite things to do is just sit with a snack and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake, puts it close to the top for views. The pools are really nice, too, especially the main pool, because, again, you can see Bay Lake from the pool. The boats to FW aren't operational right now, but you can still hang out on the marina, sitting on the benches there to enjoy the view. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Oh, and the fact that you can walk to the MK, and monorail to the Poly & GF, are big plusses!

We're going to have alot of resort time so I'm hoping to just relax and take in as much as possible. Thanks for all the positive feedback!

Hands down, no questions asked, the Contemporary Resort is my significant other's favorite resort. We often do split stays between the Contemporary and Grand Floridian, my favorite resort. However, I do feel customer service is much better at the Contemporary. The folks at the CR just seem to be more friendly. Yet, I personally love the Grand Floridian theming and grounds a bit more. The walk to the Magic Kingdom from the CR is also a great asset. I must also say it is fun to have MK fireworks from your personal balcony at the CR. The rooms are crisp and light. I think you will have a great stay. I thank my lucky stars for every stay. It may take some savings and some not doing in other areas of life but we feel it is worth it to stay at CR and GF.
