I'm going to Disney World for my family's 3rd trip in May 2006. We stayed off site the first year and stayed at Coronado the 2nd year. We want to stay at one of the hotels on the monorail this year. Can't decide which one though. Also thinking about splitting our time between two of the monorail hotels. I'm leaning towards contemporary because of the magic kingdom view in the tower. The only thing I didn't like about Coronado Springs was the long walk to the restaurants. I would appreciate any advice.

i would go contemperary because of the kingdom view and the slew of restaurants. also, the monorail is easy to get to. it is a beautiful hotel.

I usually base our resort decision on which parks we'll be spending the most time at and of course, which theme appeals the most to me. All 3 monorail resorts have very different theming, but if your primary goal is the MK view, then you should probably go with the Contemporary. Based on their new 2006 rates, you can pay additional to have that guaranteed view. All the restaurants are located inside the resort and you're only a few minutes walk away from the MK.

If it is the view, definitely the cont. tower! If it is about the best transportation, pick the Polynesian. You can catch the MK monorail at the Great Ceremonial House and the DIRECT Epcot monorail by taking the quick walk over to the TTC. This makes the Poly the only one with access to both monorails. The other resorts offer only MK monorail access with a transfer at the TTC to the Epcot monorail.

If you are really wanting that view of the MK then, as mentioned, in 2006 you can pay extra per night and you are guranteed that view. It is amazing, we had 10th floor tower with MK view and was truly magical. Plus, in the tower Chef Mickey's, Concourse Steakhouse, and the food and fun center are just a short walk from the central elevators. They have the largest rooms in the CR, and you really feel you are part of the action (plus you may get a refurb room that look fantastic!). The pool is a decent walk from the tower, (maybe just because if you're wet we find the air-conditioning to be top notch, so you freeze coming back) but the kids love the slide. If you choose another resort, then I would go Poly over GF for its transportation options and then atmosphere, love their pool (we stayed in GF once, and we are over it. Not a bad stay, but it is just not us).
