Going on a trip with my boyfriend (no kids) in January and we are trying to decide between staying at the contemporary or the yacht club. We are staying 3 nights and we are only doing 3 nights and are just doing 1 day at MK and 1 day at epcot, (with a down day before transferring to universal). We like the rooms at both we like the sleek modern look. My boyfriend wants to ride a bus as little as possible so thats the main pro of the contemporary. On the other hand the Y.C. has a much prettier exterior and an awesome pool (although its a strong chance it will be to cold to use so not a big plus). I just keep going back and forth on the pros and cons. Any tips opinions or advice appreciated!

We've stayed at both and, especially with the recent YC refurb, it wins hands-down for me. Gorgeous hotel, beautiful rooms, impeccable service. Uber over to CR and walk to MK to avoid having to use any buses for your trip!

It has always been my dream to stay at the Comtem (I just like the feel) but my daughter vetoed it, she thinks it feels to cold and sterile (she also vetoed GF because she thought it was to stuck up). She selected a resort that really fits none of your criteria she picked the Animal Kingdom Lodge *(for the animals and theming). If I was you I would go with the Contemp and have fun.

We've stayed at both, and while we like both, I really fell in love with the Contemporary! MK is my favorite park, so being able to walk there is just awesome. Also, if you are trying to avoid riding a bus, the CR is probably the best choice, since you walk to MK and take the monorail to Epcot.

The Contemporary is nice and walking to magic kingdom is great. I like staying at Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Boardwalk so we can walk to either Epcot or Hollywood. Either way if you are going to Epcot and MK for one day you will be on a bus or monorail to get to one of the parks. It sounds like you like BC more so I would stay there.

I've stayed at both and YC is my favorite resort on all of Disney property so it would be YC for me. If I had to stay at a monorail resort it would be GF but we stopped staying at those years ago. I'm not a fan of the monorail, we tend to spend less time at MK than any other park. With both Epcot and HS within walking distance, YC makes sense for us. Of all the deluxe resorts (and we have stayed at all expect WL and SS) CR is my least favorite. I don't like the look and feel of it, it is just to sterile and, well, contemporary for me.

I've stayed at both resorts, too. While I absolutely loved the hotel rooms at the Contemporary, nothing else about the resort worked for me. We've stayed in 5 or 6 deluxe resorts now, Contemporary is one I won't go back to unless I had no other deluxe option or it was deeply discounted. Yacht Club will allow you to walk or boat to two parks. The bus to MK is absolutely fine. While the Contemporary does have the monorail, the resort itself felt so cold and was so loud and echo-y. The quick service felt like I was eating in a giant busy airport. I did love those rooms, though. But YC has refurbished rooms now and as a couple I really think the freedom of walking into Epcot and back and forth will be a great option for you.

The monorail ride back to the Contemporary from Epcot is an ordeal. The bus ride from YC to MK is a cake walk.

I love both resorts (in fact we are doing a split stay this summer Contemporary/Beach Club) but I would choose Yacht Club in your situation. The Epcot resort area is more "adult" with more to do in the evenings after the parks close.

I chose Contemporary because I feel that resort offers easy transportation to both Epcot and MK. I love both resorts but being in walking distance to MK is just special. Then you are an easy monorail ride away to Epcot. You really can't go wrong with either.

I feel exactly the same way about the Contemporary...the rooms are lovely but the rest of the place is loud and feels like Grand Central Station. Maybe it’s nice for people who are really into trains but I took a subway into work for many years and just find that the noise reminds me of that. We’ve stayed at AKL, WL, BC and every one of them is far superior to the Contemporary IMO.

If you or your boyfriend are anything like my family, sleeping in is a #1 priority. Rope drop doesn't seem to be as critical at Epcot as it does at MK, and staying at the Contemporary means a 10 min walk away from MK and you get to go through a separate security station. We woke up at 7:30 and got there by 7:55, it was awesome. It's pretty quick to Epcot too via the monorail, vs if you stay at Yacht Club you'll have to bus to MK unless you have park hoppers.

Now, if you prioritize the pool over sleeping in, then it's no contest. Yacht Club all the way, Stormalong Bay is amazing!

I think I am leaning towards the contemplate. If we were doing a longer stay with lots of pool and resort time I would choose YC though. I'm just thinking for a 3 night stay the monorail is just to much to pass up. I think in a few years when we come back for a longer stay we will do YC since we would be doing all 4 parks instead of just the 2. This is our first trip to orlando so its kindof a toe in the water type situation. But also if the YC has a decent discount over the CR that might sway me back to YC lol. So I'll just have to wait til the 2019 dates are available for now.

Contemporary is easy to MK and Epcot. Plus if you do theme park view you get to watch the fireworks from the balcony. On Bay Lake side you get a great view of the water parade nightly.

Love both of them but since you are going to do MK and Epcot I would vote for the Contemporary. I don't think you can beat just being able to walk over to MK. Plus Contemporary has the more sleek, modern design. We also really like the Wave Bar when we do an adult only trip. You also have the monorail option to the other resorts if you would like to head to the Poly or GF for a drink.
