I have narrowed down my hotel choices to the Polynesian or the Contemporary and I cannot decide! I'm going with my best friend and we'll be 18. If anyone has any input please let me know. They both look like amazing hotels, I just don't know which one would be a better fit.

I have stayed at both locations and they are very good Resorts so I am sure you will have a great time no matter where you stay. I would choose the Contemporary because they are the closest location to the Magic Kingdom, if you can afford a Tower Magic Kingdom View it's the best view in WDW, their renovated rooms look amazing and all their rooms have a built in computer with 100% free high speed internet. Here is a link to the Contemporary FAQ thread so you can find out more about it. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1710920

I absolutely agree! Last summer my family and I stayed in the Tower to celebrate my HS graduation and we had the most beautiful view! We could see the fireworks from magic kingdom every night (at least every night we were in the hotel room) and not only did you have a great view of everything in the entire lagoon, but if you look to the left of the hotel, you could see Spaceship Earth, the AK tree and Mt. Everest over the tree tops! And almost every morning when we were there, we got to see about 5 hot air balloons flying over the whole resort in the distance. it was the coolest view ever!

I've stayed at both resorts within the last 6 months and I'd say that for now, your best bet is to stay at the Poly. Both resorts are fantastic and the rooms are beautiful, but the current new construction at the CR is a real eyesore, especially if you don't make it to the World all that often. It really takes away from that Disney "magic" that we all like to talk about around here and can be seen from almost all areas of the resort, even while you lay out by the pool. I'd do the Contemporary next time after the construction is finished.

I would stay at the Poly :dance3:. We've never stayed at the CR, but we had our first stay at the Poly in September and it was AWESOME :banana: :banana:. We just love the overall ambiance of the resort....and the beach is great to just sit and relax and/or watch the fireworks at night ;). Plus the restaurants.....Ohana and Kona Cafe.........are awesome places to eat :). The theming at the CR really doesn't do anything for us......to us, the Poly is more appealing :goodvibes.

We have stayed at the CR twice last year. For the first, we were in the tower and had a MK view. Let me just say, it was incredible. There is nothing like waking up in the morning, opening the curtains, and BOOM! - you get to see the castle & space mountain. My DD (5) sang Cinderella's "A Dream is a Wish" every morning and night.

On our second, we stay in the south-wing. While we didn't have the view, it was sooooo quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Very relaxing.

For our 2009 trip, however, we plan on staying at the Poly. On our last day in Dec, we wandered over to the Poly for breakfast and kind of fell in love. Everything seemed so green and alive. While we love the CR, both me and DW think the Poly might become our little Disney home-away-from-home for the next few trips.

While I know I really haven't helped much, I'm sure that whichever you choose will be magical.:wizard:

18 = No Tropical Drinks....so Contemporary!:lmao:

Both are great resorts, so I say to look at the themes and choose the one that suits you better. Poly is laid-back and relaxing ~ a hawaiin theme. CR is busy ~ the level with the restaurants is exciting and magical (you can see the monorail drive through). The MK views from CR tower are awesome, as posted above, but I'm not sure how often you and your friend would be in your room to watch the shows from your balcony (we have young kids so we really enjoyed this perk!).

Hey there DG. Happy 18th! Such awesome years.

What kind of rooms are you looking at? CR has been running great specials on Garden View rooms...but, as you can read here, the buzz is for the Tower rooms. Are you considering a Tower room?

I recently had to make this very same choice. Based on the fact that my CR offer was for Garden Rooms, I chose Poly due to the fact that it was connected to the TTC and I could get to other parks more easily.

What's your favorite park?
