Contemporary not included in room only :(

I am planning for next year and pricing out the contemporary and noticed it isn't included in the room only discounts

Is that usual and should I start planning for somewhere else??

when I called they had discounts on the hospitality suite... but it was more than i wanted to pay...

I was able to get a 20% discount for December.

How do you know Contemporary isn't included, when the 2014 discounts haven't been released yet?

I think the OP was looking at this year to see what was offered so she can get an idea of what might be offered should a discount come out for next year.

It wasn't on the list of resorts with free dining or room only discounts but both were offered there for this fall promotion. Don't know why they didn't list it? The room only was only 20% vs 30% at the Poly and my uneducated guess is because people are favoring CR and GF right now due to rumored major construction beginning at the Poly in the coming year.

I got 20% off my bay lake view CR tower room for T-Day week, plus another 20% by going through ShopAtHome and Travelocity. I hope they don't quit offering discounts for CR - that would be terrible!

I booked the Poly for 2 nights in December and thought the discount was only 20% from the predictions on a previous thread . Then, after reading your post, I checked my confirmation and sure enough the discount was 30%. We are booked 12/22-12/24 and I guess I was just so excited to get any kind of discount (thought I'd be paying rack rate) for so close to Christmas that I didn't pay attention to the actual percentage .

Disney offers discounts and specials to fill rooms. If a resort or room category at a resort isn't included in an offer it means enough rooms are already filled, the rooms book up without discounts, or only a limited number of rooms were offered and they were all booked before you checked. Next year, the resort/room category you want might be included, but there's no way of knowing, although I have seen the CR included in previous offers.

I've observed that CR discounts are often lower than others, but it was included in this last offer released 8/1. It wasn't listed on Disney's website, I think, because it was only 20%, so it didn't fit into the pretty display. They were saying 30% off deluxe, and 20% of mods, so the 20% couldn't be listed anywhere without extra fine print.

But, when I called, there it was, mine for the taking.

I think during the planning phases, it's most important to plan the vacation you are happy to pay for. Any discounts are nice bits of magic, but nothing to count on. So, if you are happy to pay rack rates at CR, then go forward with that. If you are banking on a discount and will feel irritated if CR isn't included, then either plan once the discounts have been released, or find a resort that you wouldn't mind paying rack rate for.

About 4 years ago, we received a 40% off PIN & that is our first & probably only time we will ever get to stay in the actual tower at the Contemporary Resort. We loved it, the rooms are huge, you can walk to Magic Kingdom right out the front of the resort, the monorail runs right thru it, it is Great !!
But without a 40% discount, it is not even close to my budget.
