Contemporary - Magic Kingdom view?

My husband and I will be at the world in September 2018 and we are renting DVC points to stay 5-6 nights. We love the CR's proximity to Magic Kingdom and have always been ones to love "VIP" views. As of right now, there is not much available by way of Standard view, so we will at least do the Lake View. However, I am tempted to upgrade to the MK view, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I know this is kind of subjective, but I'd love opinions on anyone that can compare the 2, or has stayed at the CR with a MK view.

This will probably be our last trip for a couple of years at least, so I'd love for it to be extra magical. But I also don't want to pay an extra $300 for something that's not that great.

Since you are renting points I'm guessing you are at BLT, vs CR.
That said, we have stayed at CR TPV (not BLT) but I'd guess the logistics are similar in general.
We love it and especially the view. Actually, it's the only way we stay at CR. If I'm not doing TPV I'll stay elsewhere. So I've never done lake view. I'm sure it would be fine but we do like other resorts more so if we aren't doing TPV we opt to stay in one of our other favorites.

BLT is our home resort. We LOVE the TPV--being able to sit out on your balcony to watch fireworks at night is just unbeatable. That being said, we have also enjoyed lake view, as you get to watch the water parade at night.

I love Lakeview at BLT. In fact, I won't pay for TPV anymore. Not worth it to me. I don't love it during the day, with all of the parking lots. I think the lake is so pretty. We just walk down to the bridge to see the fireworks.

We were upgraded to a TPV last year and it was truly magical! Being able to sit on the patio and watch the show on the castle was amazing. We could also see the electrical water parade.

We've stayed in a 2BR LV and with the right room request, got an 8th floor north tower, even numbered room - it was the best of both worlds. WE could watch fireworks from the MBR balcony to the left but the daytime lake view from the giant LR windows was SO peaceful. We had 2 little kids and it was nice to see the lake in the AM sun and the various boats chugging toward the 7 seas lagoon (at least, that's where I think they were going). With a LV room there's no guarantee you will get a theme park view, but sometimes you will luck out and get a view of both, without any parking lot.

Also I suggest asking on the DVC boards, since you are renting points. The more experienced owners there will be able to help you more. Also there's a thread called BLT room views or something that has great info.

Right now there are only a few nights where a TPV studio isn't available in September. You can't just upgrade with DVC. You get what you book. You will not be given a complimentary upgrade on DVC points. The lowest floor you might get is the seventh floor. Lower floors are considered standard views. But if you wait too long, you won't get TPV.

If you already have the reservation, you will need to see if it can be changed or not. The owner might not have enough points to book a TPV versus a Lake view. It will be a minimum of two more points per night for Sun through Thur. Fri and Sat will be an additional four points per night.
