Which side -- floor -- direction would you request and why?

I prefer the North Wing because it is the Non-Smoking wing. I like to get a first floor room because they have a patio. Nothing is better than getting back from the parks and sitting on the patio while you watch the fireworks!!!:sunny:

A patio is better then a upper level balcony room or do they not have balconys?

They don't have balconys:( but the patio is BETTER than a balcony. Especially if you have a rambunctious 2 year old that loves to play in the grass!

We had a 3rd floor North wing garden room. To say it has a balcony is to compliment it too much. It is only about 8 inches wide. However, you are extremely close to MK from that location, only a 5 minute walk away! The bad thing was it was quite a hike to the food and fun center. I was going to purchase a refillable mug, but changed my mind. Maybe I'm just lazy, but after all that walking to and in the parks, the last thing I wanted was another long walk just to get pop!;)

The North Wing is closest to the food and fun center. I was at a corner room on the far right side and we were a jump and a skip away from it.:D

It depends what you are looking for. Our room was in the South Garden Wing, ground floor, overlooking the canal between the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. It was unbelievably quiet and serene! It was also pretty close to the pool. If you are looking for quiet that is the place to be! The walk to MK was farther but did it once in the heat of the morning and wouldn't be doing that again real soon anyway... :faint:

I'm one of the few people on this forum who PREFERS the garden wings to the Tower - provided I get a water view. In June we got a North Garden Wing rooom facing Bay Lake, and I can't describe how serene and beautiful it was. Our first-floor patio was visited by ducks every morning, and at night it was great enjoying a cigar and drink with Bay Lake lapping no more than 10 feet away.

I agree that one of the best rooms I've had at Disney was a Contemporary wing room that faced Bay Lake. Very picturesque, no buildings in sight, just lake and trees, and the patio on the first floor was nice, and could see the water pageant right from the patio also.

No I didn't request it as I recall, I paid for and got a "garden view" wing room, and just happened to get one of the rooms facing the lake instead of the marina or pool. But you can request it I'm sure. I did request it for my November trip, we'll see what happens.
