My wife is going to the NGMA conference from 29th of march through April 2. We are staying at the Contemporary and requested to stay in the main building. how do the two compare?

Another question concerning time of stay.

iIN every book i read it says that this is the busiest time of year, because of easter break. Siince easter falls on the 23rd of March this year, is it really going to be as busy as said, or should i expect fewer crowds.

Thanks for your time

Welcome to the DIS! First, the rooms in the tower and the wing are identical in size and decor, but unless you have a ground floor room in the wing you don't have a balcony, whereas all tower rooms have balconies or patios. There are two views in the tower, magic kingdom and bay lake. Bay lake is cheaper, MK, the highest price regular room. If the convention has a block of rooms they may be all wing rooms unless you're paying a premium price.
Now, on to April. The time you are going is still concidered spring break. Lots of schools do not break right at Easter. Here in GA our spring break is from April 5-13. Different states/school districts break at different times. So yes, it will be very busy, but doable if you peruse this board and get advise and tips. We're always happy to help. Our family has been visiting for the past nine years on a regular basis, and for the last few years have been averaging two or more trips per year. Also, invest in a book like the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Sehlinger and Testa, it has a lot of great advice.

I have stayed at the CR 2x for a convention. Once we were in the wings, and once we had a MK view in the tower. The MK tower view rooms are just fantastic, the best view in all "the world". That being said, do not be upset if you are in the wings. The rooms there are just as nice and very quiet. We had a really nice view of the lake and were very close to the pool. I really enjoyed it there. BTW- when we were put in the wings we stayed for 7 nights. In the tower we stayed for 4.

As for Easter week, it will be VERY busy. I have been both that week and the week of Thanksgiving. Both are crazy busy. Just go with the flow. Don't try to plan out your days too much. Take it easy and you won't even notice the crowds. One thing I would suggest is make any ADR's now that you can. Don't stress out, you will have a wonderful time!:thumbsup2

I've stayed at CR in the north garden wing, no longer there. The best thing about staying at CR is the 5 min walk back in the evening. I wouldn't worry about the parks being crowded, it likely to be that way. I've been in mid April, the beginning of F&G and it wasn't bad, but that was 4 yrs ago.

I read this to find out about the Contemporary myself. So I can't answer that part, but I can say you will be there after Easter, so it won't be as crowded as Easter week. There will still be crowds though. the middle of the day is when crowds are worst - but by contrast - the beautiful weather will almost maek up for it, especially if you live somewhere cold. It's pratially crowded than because weather-wise, it's the most beautiful time of year. The landscaping is great.

I didn't quite pay attention as to whether you will be there for the start of the garden showat Epcot, but even if you are tehre right before it's starts, most of the garden dispays will already be out, they just won't be in bloom yet (It's amazing how they time those blooms!). If you can time your Epcot visit to see the start of it, I think it's worth seeing. the kids will even enjoy some of the things they have. In the past they had a butterfly garden, a honey booth with free samples and crafts, etc.

To tell you the truth, I would rather stay in the tower, prefebly on the castle side. I dont mind even paying more for the room.
I ma taking my wifes entire family, and my only concern is the length of the walk from MK to the garden

Thank you all for the help i really appreciate it

IT takes maye 5 more minutes to walk from the wing. You can cut across the courtyard where the pool is of you like, maybe shave a few more minutes off. We found the walk from a south wing room (midways in the wing) to take 20 minutes tops to the turnstiles. This is shorter than the walk from the BC to the front of EPCOT.

The main difference is really the walk from the South Garden Wing to the Tower, compared to staying in the Tower and using the elevator to arrive at the 1st floor and 4th floor. The rooms are excatly the same so the difference is the area of the Resort you would be staying at.
