Contemporary/Fireworks

Hello Everyone!
I have been told that the viewing platform at the Contemporary has been closed to everyone except resort guests. It this true?
My DH and I want to have dinner at the California Grill but cannot get seating during the time of the fireworks. So I thought we would go to the platform, enjoy the firewowrks and then head down to dinner. Would this be possible, or should I make other plans? TIA!

here's what my wife and I have been doing... We always get our PS for earlier then the fireworks then when were done we just move to the bar area and have dessert until the fireworks begin. The other thing I have been doing is not making PS and just going around the time the fireworks will begin and we order drinks/dessert right there in the bar area... it works like a charm every time!!!
