Contemporary fireworks questions.

I've read that you can't view the MK fireworks from the 15th floor observation deck unless you eat at the California Grill.

How is the view from the 4th floor that is now available?
Can you view the fireworks from the beach or anywhere else at the Contemporary?

Is this true? I just told a friend that she could go to the 15th floor(outside of the California Grill) to the observation deck to view the fireworks. Have they stopped letting you do this?

When did the Contemp resrict the doors to the observation deck on the floor of the Cal Grill?
Is the deck closed because of the 911?
We stayed once in the North Wing room ( suite) on the end that faced the docks and pool.
We could see the fireworks from the room, so I am thinking that you might be able to see the Fireworks from the dock where you pick up the shuttle boat for the Wilderness Lodge.
We saw the Fireworks from the boat shuttling us back to the Cont. after dinner at the WL. Also If the Convention center isn't in the way walk to the end of the South Wing of the
Cont. and stand under the monorail tracks that go to the trans, ctr., lastly just walk ou the frontdoor of the looby ground floor level.

Groosch...effective 10/1/02 the CR observation deck is restricted to people dining at the California Grill only. They have opened an observation platform off the end of the 4th floor for the public/other guests...the music is piped to there as well. the new viewing area is just beyond the spirits shop in the concourse.

Has anyone viewed the fireworks from the 4th floor?

I've never been to the Contemporary but I read somewhere that you can view them from the beach. Is that true?

The Contemporary's "beach" is on Bay Lake--not sure you could see the fireworks from there. I believe there is another sandy area, not the official beach, on the Seven Seas Lagoon side of the Contemporary (across the road), don't know how easy it is to get there, but should have a view from there.

I certainly expect that the designated fourth floor viewing area will have a great view, plus having the music there is great.

We've got ressies for California Grille at 6 p.m. on our 2nd night. Will we be able to see the fireworks? I think I read somewhere the fireworks are at 7?

Sorry, I should have posted that, lol. We're eating there on December 13th. Can't wait, I've heard great things about California Grille. A co-worker of mine - her son used to run it. Now, he's off doing his own thing outside of Disney. GASP! lol

I don't think MK is having fireworks on December 13th. You may want to check.

Update your res with the Cal Grill, suggest requesting a window seat facing the GF and if this is a special occasion or celebration definitely emphasize the occasion.
We Dined on our 20th Anv., I informed the matradee of the event. They did every thing I wished and more, as well as timing the meal so we were not disturbed during the fireworks. I suggest you go to the WDW website or Theme Parks on this site and get the schedule for the time your there plus check out the Water Pagent of Lights which runs right before the fireworks.

The official website says fireworks are at 6 p.m. on 12/13. You may want to try to move up your PS a little.

And the Electrical Water Pageant doesn't start until 9 p.m. at the Poly, then GF, WL, FW and then the Contemporary. You will probably finish your meal in time to ride the monorail to the Poly or GF to see the Pageant.

Is the lounge still open at the California Grill? We haven't been to the Cont. in a few years.

When we stayed at Cont. the EWP passed infront of the docks on the east side of the
Cont. plus you can view the EWP when it floating in front of the WL.
