Contemporary - Easter Mass???

I haven't heard anything about this. I know they have had it in the past(year before last) and I am trying to find out if they will do it again. I booked the CR just for this reason because the last time we went we drove in from the AK and it was a MOB scene to get into the parking lot!! It is such a nice service and soooo uplifting to see hundreds of people together that I actually planned the timing of this vacation around it.
Anyone with knowledge about this???

I am not sure about Easter Mass, that might be a special situation, but, according to the website for the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of the Universe, they have quit doing Masses at WDW. This is the parish that used to do Mass at the Luau cove at Polynesian. We have gone there on our visits, and it is a beautiful church.

I believe they had a Christmas Mass at the Contemporary last month. Since no one seems to know for sure about Easter I would get on the disneyworld.com site. Find the area that you can e-mail guest services. They will reply in a few days with your answer.

We went to Christmas Day mass at the CR the first Christmas after masses at the Polynesian were discontinued. We were staying at the GF and got a note about it the evening before. I don't think there is much publicity about it perhaps to avoid that parking lot scene.

At any rate, I would either drive to the TTC parking lot and take the resort monorail to mass or faster yet, take a resort bus to the MK and make the short walk to the convention center. Of course this doesn't apply to you, Debbie as you will be right there!

That Christmas mass was special as I'm sure Easter mass is too.

We were just there for Christmas and they had 2 Catholic masses and 1 Protestant mass at the Contemporary on Christmas Day. We attended the 8 AM mass and I didn't find it very crowded. We took the bus to the MK and went from there.

The thing is, noone seemed to know anything about the Christmas mass ahead of time. I even asked at check-in and they gave me all the information and directions to the Shrine, saying that there weren't any onsite. I think it was about 3 days before Christmas when Mousekeeping left a note in our rooms announcing the mass at the Contemporary. Since they have also had a mass for Easter in the past, my guess is that they will have one this year also.

They did have an Easter mass last year - we just couldn't get over there from AKL!

That's the reason we booked CR, well that and Easter breakfast at Chef Mickeys!

Thanks to all for the replies! I will take your advice wdwgoofeee and e-mail disney but as you all know we dis'ers usually know more than the official people!
I am guessing that they did not decide to do Christmas mass until 3 days before so I may be up against the same situation with Easter mass. If I didn't have to pay rack rate I wouldn't sweat it but it really does affect my room options!

I just got an e-mail back from Guest Relations regarding Easter Mass. The e-mail reads as follows:


Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

At this time we do not have any information about plans
for Easter Day services at the Contemporary.
For Christmas they did have Mass at Disney's Contemporary
resort, but it was not announced until
about a week out. Please check back with us as we get
closer to the end of March.
