Okay generally when WDW spends the money to fix up a resort - then I didn't think DVC would get it.

So I am under certain about the latest rumors.

WDW keeping the Towers fixing it up - but DVC gets the wings.

Didn't WDW lately just fix up the South wing?

So I am really mixed up.

are these just rumors?

what happen to the Jan update newletter (on the Dis resort board) that say that the Cont is going to be rehab.....

why was it taking off?

is this just a rumor too?

I imagine that only time will tell with the Contemporary DVC rumors. So many floating around.

While I was talking to my guide last night, we were talking about the future of DVC. She told me that we will see some "surprises". So, I asked her about the Contemporary & her reply was "You're Good!"

Hmmmmm.....

Hmmm...very interesting!!! I knew there was a reason I was holding off on an add-on. I'll just have my fingers crossed and keep socking the money away with the hopes this will be a reality instead of a rumor!

That is absolutely an add-on I would consider. We stayed in the wings on our very first trip. I was a high school junior, 1971. Heck, I would buy simply for the nostalgia of it.... :cheer2:

I think it would be GREAT to have Contemporary Wings converted to DVC. Even tho I'm a Poly girl all the way......it would be fine to be so close to the Poly, see Wishes....and be on the monorail system. Yikes...best start saving!

Guides are also salespeople ... not high pressure salespeople, but salespeople just the same. I've always noticed that a salesperson will tend to tell you what you want to hear. e.g. Does this dress make me look fat? :rotfl:

Although it is a fantastic location they would have to do a lot of work to make me add on 'contemporary wings' to my DVC. They are not very attractive at the moment. :sad2:

I thought I wanted to buy at the Contemporary, so on our last trip...we "re-visited" the resort. I just don't like it. I am not a "modern minimalist" person...I like cozy and comfy. And the whole "psuedo-modern" theme left me cold.

Now...if DVC "re-themed" the DVC part (I can't even imagine what theme would "work" and still blend in with the Contemporary), I might consider it. But, I suprisingly think I might have to be "talked into" this one...especially considering how expensive it would be.

I may just let all of you have it!! Hmmm...I wonder if BCV prices would go down if a "bunch" of DVC'er decided to sell their old points to buy at the Contemporary? Maybe this is a good idea AFTER all??!!! ;)

It would be pretty fabulous if approached the concept of modern and contemporary as "moderne." Perhaps something a bit Art Deco? A little like a luxury salon on the 20th Century Limited or an Art Deco hotel suite?

The Contemporary is not a lot of people's thing, but I still love it. It doesn't have that "wow" feeling that I get walking into say the GF, but it reminds me of being a kid in the 1960s when modern/atomic design was new and everyone seemed optimistic about the future. It's a bit like the Disneyland Hotel too, scene of many wonderful childhood memories circa 1968.

It does need freshening up, but I hope whatever is done, Walt Disney's original vision for the Contemporary is respected. I'm still steaming that disney did away with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! :p
