Contempo Cafe?

Who has eaten at the Contempo Cafe??? What did you think of the food?? Overal experience. I know a lot of Disney world counter service locations are pretty similar but i was just curious since this sounded a little different and newer... Thanks!

I like the Contempo Cafe. I eat there usually once a week on my lunch break. I get the soup of the day and a flatbread pizza. They also have some nice sandwiches and good burgers. They have a decent selection of desserts and beverages. There is ample seating, self serve soda fountain, and you can watch the monorail go by.

This is a grab and go, carry your own tray place. Most of the food is pre prepared..except the burgers..and maybe the pizza.

I ate here once and used it as a stop for my refillable mugs. On day of checkout, I used some snack credits for airport snacks. This is like a company/hospital cafeteria.

What is sad about it all, is that the seated backs up to the seating for Chef Mickeys. While one kid is getting hugs galore /pictures/autographs from all the Disney characters, another child 2 feet away, who can see all the characters perfectly, cant even get a wave from the characters because technically they are not at Chef Mickeys.

The Contempo Cafe is one of my favorite counter service locations in all of WDW. My favorite item on their menu the Chicken Ceasar Salad with the dressing on it. Plus unlike other counter service locations it's always made fresh and not pre-made like other salads. Besides that I also like their Cheese Flatbread Pizza and on Saturday's I always get their soup of the day, which is Corn Chowder. I have only eaten breakfast there. I loved the sandwich - I got egg, cheese, and ham and it was HUGE. Easily big enough to share. I like the potato wedges too. Everything I've ordered has been hot and fresh - a must for me at breakfast time.

The only thing I don't like is it seems to take FOREVER sometimes for those touch screens to respond at the order kiosks. If I were ordering a lot of different items it would drive me crazy. It nearly did that anyway just ordering for one person. I was going to order lunch one day and the screens were so unresponsive I just went back to my villa and made a sandwich instead.

We tried the pasta marinara this past January...the nieces really liked it and what they couldnt finish my hubby did and he said it was pretty good.

The only thing I don't like is it seems to take FOREVER sometimes for those touch screens to respond at the order kiosks. If I were ordering a lot of different items it would drive me crazy. It nearly did that anyway just ordering for one person. I was going to order lunch one day and the screens were so unresponsive I just went back to my villa and made a sandwich instead.

I do wonder if this system actually speeds up the service--it doesn't seem to for most who are not repeat users here.

We ate here twice since we were staying at the CR, once for dinner (after having had breakfast with Chef Mickey) and for breakfast on the morning we left for home. The food was fine; the boys like the flatbread pizza and the desserts. They have the chocolate Rice Krispies Mickeys, in case you have some extra snack credits to use. It was pretty crowded at breakfast.

When I was just there I found the best thing to do is pressing each of the selections with your thumb will make things go faster, because I also had trouble when I was using my other fingers when making a selection.
