Contempo Cafe - what's your experience?

Hi. We'll be at the Contemporary for 3 days and we plan to eat in and around the resort for dinner. We're thinking one night at the wave or Kona Cafe, so the other 2 would most likely be the Contempo Cafe. What's your experience been there? The menu looks pretty substantial for dinner, with enough different choices.

How are the fresh salads? What about the hot sandwiches?

I searched through the forum but there only seems to be cursory mentions. I'd love to hear details.

We have glanced through the place many times but have only been there once. My nieces wanted spaghetti and the only CS I could find that served it was the Contemp, they had a pasta marinara and I was able to get the sauce on the side. The kids loved it and DH polished off what they didnt eat and he said it was very good. I have seen lots of pictures of the food and it looks yummy

We stayed at BLT on our last trip and ate at Contempo Cafe every day. The food was really good I thought. My favorites where the french toast in the morning, and honey lime chicken and the Smoked turkey sandwich. Just thinking about it makes me hungry.
I never had any of the pasta dishes, but my DH had the steak house sald and really enjoyed it. The chicken caeser salad I had, was just your everyday caesar salad. Nothing great, but average.

We find the food here quite good. I like the salads, burgers and the grilled flatbreads. The kids pizza meal is perfect for DD3. The variety is just fine for us. Sometimes we take meals to go and take it back to the room - perfect for lazy evenings.

we enjoyed it - from memory thekids had burgers and I had ceasar salad with chicken which were all very good.

Great place to eat, food is good, selection well varied with lots of healthier choices. Love to sit and watch the monorail zip by. We usually end up taking half of the food back to the room (BLT). Also, getting food/beer here and bringing it down to the pool is a somewhat cheaper than pool side.

I love the smoked turkey sandwich with Brie and apple butter. Sounds weird but it is so good! I also had the stacked sandwich (ham and havarti) but I thought the bread was too thick and tough. You can't go wrong with the desserts at Contempo Cafe. Love the Black Forest Cupcake and my daughters love the dirts and worm dessert!!

We ate there almost everyday on our last trip. It's really convenient for BLT stays.

Only ate there once, but I had a difficult time selecting a dinner. So many great choices! Dh and my daughters (9) all enjoyed their meals too. We are staying at BLT this summer, and we are looking forward to eating at Contemp again.

My favorite item on the Contempo Cafe menu is their Chicken Ceasar Salad with the dressing tossed in, because that and their other Salads are made fresh each time you order them. So unlike other counter service locations they are not pre-made and kept inside a fridge all day.

I also like their Spice Crusted Mahi Sandwhich and Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza.

We at there twice during our stay last summer. First time I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was fine - just like the burgers anywhere else. The 2nd time I had a beef flat bread - it was to die for!!!! They also have a great selection of deserts.

I love the marinated beef flatbread with goat cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, and arugula. Everything is definitely a step above the usual CS options!

I had the worst cheeseburger of my life there. Now, I will say that I never usually order burgers in WDW so maybe this is what they are like everywhere but if that's the case...ewww.

I also had an EXCELLENT smoked turkey sandwich with brie. It was super good. My dad and brother really loved the club sandwich. We also loved the "house" chips. Everything was very good, except for my dry and flavorless cheeseburger!

I'll also add that while staying at the Contemporary, we went to The Wave and Kona (1st time at both)...loved them! Will definitely go back.

When we stayed at the Contemporary I only did the Contempo Cafe for breakfast (it was great by the way!) but my father did dinner. He was very impressed with what he ate! Can't remember what it was now...

We like the flatbreads. It is convenient if you're staying at BLT and want to "eat in" or grab something to eat on the way to/from the parks.

Wow, sounds like a lot of good experiences. It sounds perfect for our stay. I love to have salad almost every day so I was really happy that I wasn't going to only have the standard refrigerated chicken caesar salad with the browned lettuce.
