Contemplating cabana rental

We’ll be staying at GCH in June and I think folks would enjoy a half day cabana rental. The threads I could find are a couple years old so I thought I’d ask...
-current pricing?
-we love the pool at DLH-have never stayed at the Grand so don’t know their pool? Would you rent at DLH to get an opportunity to use their pools or stick with the Grand?
-we have a two bedroom villa booked and may have more than six guests. How do they monitor number of guests with the cabana? In other words, if folks drift in and out without a big crown in the cabana are you ok?

I'd prefer to be at my hotel, so I'd stick with the Grand. Last time we rented was $185 for a 1/2 day I think (plus tip.) I usually try and only have 6 to a cabana, but when we rented 2 cabanas, we had 8 adults in one (4 kids got the other cabana) and only 1 person said anything, but then remembered we had 2 cabanas. If you have more than 6 at a time, they may ask you. I prefer to just get a second one.

I was told last month price was $250 for 6 hours, but changes seasonally. Price for June likely has not been set. Book 60 days in advance.

There have been a few changes as part of the GCH renovation. There are now 6 cabanas in groups of 3, previously 4 in 1 group. Food selection is much more extensive prepared at Storytellers, previously food came from Whitewater Snacks.

In addition to the actual cabana, there is also a table with 4 chairs and umbrella and 2 lounge chairs. While I have no personal experience with enforcement of the occupancy limit, there is seating for more than 6

Thanks! My understanding is rental includes water and a fruit tray-I assume they provide a menu to order anything else?

Yes, there will be 6 small waters in the fridge and after you arrive, they will bring a tray of apples, bananas, grapes and pears (total of about 8-10 pieces if I remember.)

Do you need to be in a villa to rent at GCH or is it just easier? We were thinking of looking into this for a spring break trip to make sure we have space at the pool for when we want to go but not sure if it's worth it or if we just wing it and hope for the best at finding seats! My husbands grandma is coming and likes to lounge and the kids like to get in and out and take chairs. Side question: can you order off that menu only if you're in a cabana?

I think you just have to be a guest at one of the three onsite hotels. We have rented a GCH cabana in the past while we were actually staying at DLH.

You need to be at the Grand or DLH. PPH guests can't get cabanas at the other hotels ahead of time. I have seen them allow one when no one had rented and it was same day. But not in advance.

We rented a cabana at GCH while staying at PPH. Booked it in advance over the phone. This was over a year ago..maybe the rules have changed?

We did a half-day cabana rental at the Grand in October and were so glad we did. Totally relaxing, yummy food and drinks, lovely CMs and service. We plan to do it again.

You guys are selling me! Anyone happen to have the menu for DLH’s cabanas?

I've looked everywhere and I can't find a dedicated menu like at the Grand. I'm fairly sure you can order from Tangaroa Terrace and maybe Trader Sam's - it's my understanding they share a kitchen but I'd like to know more about poolside ordering. We really enjoy hanging around the pool during our down time and like that 'full resort' experience.

Visited GCH over the weekend and have a few more details about the cabanas:
  • Currently "off season" rate is $249 for 6 hours (10AM-4PM)
  • Rates for "regular season" rate has not been set (June when OP visits should be regular)
  • Regular season can be half day (9:30AM-1:30PM or 2PM-6PM) or full day
  • Guest capacity has been increased to 10 (good news for OP)
GCH cabanas might have increased occupancy because there is table and chairs outside the actual cabana, and space between cabanas has increased -- prior to the renovation there were 4 cabanas together, now the same area only has 3 with another group of 3 in another spot.

Thank you so much! That’s great news re the capacity! Very curious to see what the rates look like for the summer.

Just made a reservation for a full day in July and was quoted $329 for 9:30AM - 6:00PM. Interesting that they took the names of all guests for the cabana.
