I was on the phone booking our conference trip to the contemporary resort and she asked me if I wanted tower or garden view? Or something like that. It was not the main building but the ones off the main one. I think I told her garden, but what is the difference or is there not. She assured me on the phone that there really wasn't a difference, just the view.

No, there is a huge difference. The Tower is the main building that has the monorail running through it. The Garden is a separate couple story building off to the Southeast. Unless there is a big cost difference or you are really noise sensitive, I'd call back and insist on the Tower.

100%! Huge difference! You want the tower!:thumbsup2

We stayed in the Garden Wing all 7xs that we were at the CR and we loved it every time. I guess different Guests like different things. Where ever you choose, enjoy yourself!

The Garden Wing is the 3-story building that has views of Bay Lake, a parking lot, the pool/grass or the canal that runs from Bay Lake to Seven Seas Lagoon. The laundry room is located in this building and there is a covered walkway leading from the GW to the Tower. There are no balconies in the GW, but ground floor rooms have a patio.

The Tower is 15 stories high with CA Grill being located on the 15th floor and the 12 and 14th floors are club level/concierge rooms. There are two Tower Views: Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom/Castle. All rooms have a balcony and are identical to the Garden Wing rooms. The Tower rooms are more expensive, with the TPV/MK Views costing more than the Bay Lake View.

Usually with a convention reservation, you're not guaranteed a room location or view. But since the CM asked you, I would have requested a Tower room. The views are amazing and everything you'd need (except the laundry) is under one roof. There's nothing like walking right out of your room and looking over at the monorail and looking down at the 4th floor Concourse:goodvibes

We just stayed there for a conference a month ago. We paid a ridiculously low rate for peak season ... $189 per night. I was told by the CM I made the special convention reservation with that the reservation isn't for a specific room type, just "run of the house." So I put in a request for tower - theme park view. I figured it just a request, so hey, why not?

Well, I was completely shocked at check-in when the CM told me we were assigned a tower - Bay Lake view room, room 4521. WOW!!! The published rate for that room during our stay was $565/night weekdays and $610/night weekends. And this was during spring break time, when everything was packed solid.

The conference gave each participant a distinctive canvas bag. During our stay, I saw a BIG number of those bags walking along our hallway as well as in the tower elevators, so we weren't the only lucky ones.

I did ask her if it was the 'tower' and she said no not the main bld, but one of the two off of the tower. So, not sure about what she meant. I did tell her if it was for the 'tower' I want that!! Looking back, I think she really meant was water view or garden view.

I would be happy with run of the house and request the tower then, like the other poster. That would be super!!

I stayed at CR last month. My husband booked the trip through our travel agent, but I told him to request the tower. We were offered 3 views - theme park, Bay Lake, and standard. I have no idea where or what standard is. It was cheaper, but I wanted a Bay Lake view so we went with that. We got 11th floor (highest non-concierge) and the view was SPECTACULAR. I still have no idea what that standard view is...maybe a low floor that you can really only see the parking lot from?

Egads! They need to do some updated CM training. There is only one Garden Wing remaining since the other was torn down to build BLT. Also, there isn't a "water view" option. For the GW, there is only Garden View and Standard, which is of the parking lot with the monorail above it. Request Garden View and ask to face Bay Lake.

I believe that a third view category was added to the CR Tower, but it doesn't appear on the WDW website and is only available when calling. The Std. Tower view might be the one that is on a lower floor and near the Convention Center (a less desirable TPV). There is also a Std. View in the Garden Wing which is of the parking lot or is an obstructed view.
