Contemp. sold out .......Update

Wow the Comtemp. is the only resort sold out for the dates I want in July. And..... it's the only one my DD really wants to stay at. I thought it odd that its so booked???? Do you think people are holding on to ressies? I'm going to keep trying but for now we are at POFQ and looking forward to it. (anywhere is fine with me)

With the closing of SOG, the Contemporary is being used to house those folks. Thus, the Contemporary is going to be one busy place until SOG is reopened after its refurbishment. Have you thought about either the Wilderness Lodge or the Poly? Both are close rides to the Contemporary to allow for frequent visits and both resorts are great in their own right!

What dates were you looking at for the Contemporary? We'll be there July 17-23 since my husband will be attending a conference based at the Contemporary. The conference is fairly large so that may be why the place is sold out.

Call everyday, morining, noon and night, you;d be surprised
to find something if someone cancels, we have done this before
and it works.

IN the meantime book something else until you get the CR if not you may not get any deluxe!

Try asking for availability for dates after your arrival day. If say, you are asking for a room for July 17 - 27th and they say they're full.....Ask for the 18th - 27th....or 19th-27th.....If you can book the biggest part of it you can then occasionally call back asking to fill out the other nites you need. We have done it this way many times and it's always worked out.

4 years ago we wanted to stay at the Cont. Tower. It was always booked if I called n Sunda but I was able to get a room when I called on Tuesday. Give it a Try. The place was full for a convention of the shriners. It was packed and they had lots of things going on all te time. It was tough to get the elevator.

Jaguar: I am giving the Poly some serious thought,my brother stayed their last year and I thought it was lovely.
The thing is DD and I stayed at the Contemp. last year and she fell in love with it. We are splitting our stay between 3 resorts. ASMO 4 days POFQ 3 days and then AKL Savannah view 3 days!! The last is for mom So since I got my resort I wanted to give DD her resort. Like I said before ANY place in WDW is a good place to be!

Colorodo: I wanted the Contemp. from July 28 - 31 st. I was going to switch POFQ for this and give my DD a surprise.

DisneyDenise and Kitty: Thanks!! I have until July I will keep trying!! I'm not too bummed because I do have the AKL!! POFQ seems like a nice resort though. I will let you know if I succeed in getting the Contemp. though

Just anothr vote for keep trying....I wanted Aug. 9 & 10 ...tried for the past 6 weeks, sold out. However I called yesterday and ....it's avaiable, just not the room I want (tower)...I'll keep trying though.

The Poly is great too...my absolute all time favorite.

SOG will be using the north wing until Sept. 2003

Just happened to be looking at teacher workshops today and noticed that a big one is being held at the Contemporary from Mid July to Aug. 2. Sort of explains the sold out, esp. with SOG guests too.

Well I have been calling and no luck
Interesting thing is the CM I spoke with (great guy named "Theo")
told me that there was a king wing room available but not at the
AP rate or the summer special rate. The room was 270 a night and
only for two people. He also told me that when rooms are released that people reserve under discounts they don't go back
into a discount pool, they go back into the rack rate pool. I had no idea this happened. He basically said in a very nice way(can you tell I really liked this guy!!) I can probably get a room but it will be at the rack prices, with 270.00 being that lowest. I just dont know if I can do that. Oh well?He did say they sometimes do add them back to discounted rates,I'm thinking if the rack rates don't fill up then maybe they open up some to the discounts again. I don't think that will be the case here,being that there are so many conferences and SOG there right now. I'll keep trying though and keep you posted.
