Contemp. reno questions

I have been reading about people who have been switched to other resorts because of the reno going on at the CR. We are booked at the end of our trip Oct 6 - 8. At first I thought we would get the North wing due to the South being under rehab, but now I'm reading that the North wing will also be down at this time. We do not mind being moved to another resort or another room at the CR, but we were just wondering what the heck is going on over there? We just booked this, so I imagine that some rooms will be available, maybe.
The woman who wrote that they called her and switched her to the Poly said that the CM said just her room was under reno, but I didn't think that rooms were assigned until 3 days before check in... I wonder what is actually going on over there? Are the rumors of them turned a wing DVC right? Or are they just renovating soon then expected?
We just want to be close to the MK.
Has anyone spoken with the Contemp directly about this?

Bump...I want to know too. I just booked CR today. I know I have read that one of the wing will be closed when we are there (sept 18-23) but can't remember which one.

I have only read the one post you mentioned. Have you heard about others?

Disney must have realized during the time frame the other poster was staying, they had more garden rooms sold than were going to be open. There was not enough inventory of rooms. It doesn't mean they had a room specifically assigned to her. They probably chose people to move based on some criteria-date booked (who knows).

I have only hear the South wing will be closed at this point.

remember these units were the originally - they were the pre construction (modular) thing - so doing maintence is hard.

the South Wing is definitely under rehab.

the North wing might have problems that needs to be fixed NOW. they can't wait. Like the water problem in the Towers last year or 2003.

the North Wing was not schedule to have rehab at all.

but WDW is constantly changing.

Just got back from CR last weekend. They were painting the hallways and adding chair rail. The hall carpet looked new also. I also heard the wings were going to be dvc. WE loved the North Wing.

Hallways in NOrth Garden Wing were given new carpet at the beging of may and the halls were also being painted at the time. We love the wings at CR hopefully just rehabing them
