Edit: Turns out they got my contact info from the sweepstakes from several months ago.

OK to close this thread. Thanks, all!

I entered the contest to watch the Aulani video and they STILL didn't call me. I guess they saw my string of resale and realized the yogurt machine wasn't going to be enough.

I own at Riviera and I have had no issues at all getting a studio at 11 months out. I can see where it might be an issue at 7 months.

Yikes. Thanks for that info.
Any direct contract gets access to the Epcot Lounge. RIV is not the only resort that can be purchased direct, although it likely has the best bonus incentives for the agent doing the selling.

The Epcot Lounge is also not guaranteed to be a permanent fixture.

Which is a lie, so that's a flag to raise your eyebrow at the sales tactics in use.
It likely that DVC told OP to get into the Lounge you have to buy direct, not resale. Even if they said you had to buy RIV I don’t think calling it a lie is fair, at worst it’s a mistake.

Ah! I completely forgot about that! That must have been where they got my contact info.

A non-zero number of guides lead with misleading statements. I would not be shocked if this were the case here.

There are guides who push Latest Resort but show points charts for AKV Value and BWV Standard, like those will be bookable on Latest Hotness Points.

There are guides who hint that any resale will be restricted to only home resort and a badge of shame.

There are guides who breathlessly hint at "more resale restrictions in the pipeline!!!"

They no longer give out free gummy bears in the Epcot lounge, so it’s really not worth going there anymore. #bringbackgummybears. It is a nice spot to get off your feet and have a beverage. It’s not fancy, seating isn’t great. But when it’s 90+ and humid outside, it is refreshing to sit for 30 minutes.
