My son is getting contacts now for the first time. What is the cheapest way to get contacts. is it through 1800 contacts, walmart or just get it from the eye place. All I know is that they are 2 week contacts. Do you automatically throw them out after two weeks or can you get more than two weeks out of them (he most likely will be wearing them every single day but not while sleeping). Any help will be appreciated.

I have found Lens.com to be far cheaper than any other place. I have been ordering from them for years without any problems. My contacts are the 2 weeks type but I take them out every night so my doctor said I can wear them for one month. Sometimes I change them sooner since they start to get uncomfortable. I would suggest checking with your son's eye doctor to find out the best way to wear and care for the contacts.

I use 1-800 Contacts and can vouch for them. They are simple to reorder and are delivered pretty quick.

If your son is wearing contacts rated at 2 weeks, you can get about 4 weeks out of them. By the last week or so, however, they are not fun to wear and tend to slide around, stick, and can rip. When my contacts give me problems like that I get really grumpy, so I pretty much now go to 2-3 weeks, depending on how they feel (or rather, when I remember "oh yeah, I need to dump these and open a new set").

In the future, contacts will be designed to dissolve, so the point will be moot - you'll get what they are designed for and not more. Having previously worn contacts that were rated for 1 year of use, I much prefer shorter-lived versions as they are much more comfortable.

I've recently had cataract surgery, so I don't wear contacts anymore (hallelujah!), but I used 1-800-contacts for years. My prescription was rather strong, a bi-focal lens, but they always had it in stock. I never waited longer than a week for delivery, and their price was competitive (when Walmart, BJ's, Target, even LensCrafters had them in stock, which they didn't always).

I go to an independent optomotrist, and they make a point to set their prices to be competitive with the online companies. Since they prices were the same, and it was easier than getting the rX and ordering the contacts online, I just went with them. They also offered a really big rebate, so it worked out better for me.

So wherever he goes for his exam, it might be worth getting a price from them just to compare to the online places.

I get my dd through Walgreens.com when they have a 20% off code. It's cheaper than 1-800 contacts.

I buy from 1800contacts but go through Ebates to get some money back. Walmart orders theirs through 1800contacts so there is no difference between the 2.

I have used 1-800 before many times with no problems. You can even take a picture of the prescription with your cell phone and send it to them that way. Costco has good prices on contacts as well.

Please don't try to extend the life of the contact past what your child's doctor recommends. They know best.

We got ours from Walgreen's with a 20% off code and it was cheaper than 1800contacts. Our Dr will try to price match as well.

I use 800contacts, and I wear mine for months! But I have been wearing them for 25 + yrs with no problems for wearing them for longer! I know when they are over used and just get a new pair. If your son is new to contacts he may not know when they are old?

+1 for Lens.com cheaper then 1800, sams and about 1/2 the price of the optometrist.

Make sure your son gets a copy of his prescription you will need to fax or scan and email it to them. I have had optometrists complain about handing over the prescription and a nice reminder that state law requires they give it us does the trick.

If you have a Costco near you they are the cheapest I have found for my daughters 2 week contacts.

I could not find contacts any more expensibe than 1800contacts. Most Dr offices around me now just go through 1800contacts.

I ordered through Vision Direct. I got 2 boxes for each eye for the price of 1 box each eye through 1800contacts.

I wear 2 week contacts continuous for about 5 weeks with no problems. It depends on the contacts. My old contacts I had to take out by 9pm because they would dry out.

Clear Care as a cleaning solution is AWESOME! It is peroxide, so you also need regular saline if you ever need to rinse them and put them back in.

I have ordered through ACLENS.COM and CONTACTLENSKING.COM, both of which have always been cheaper than 1800contacts. I have been very happy with both companies. Search for the brand and style of contacts in google shopping and compare prices. You will be AMAZED at the difference in prices from site to site.

I can vouch for contact lens king. ALWAYS significantly cheaper than 1800 contacts whenever I order for my daughter. Shipping and customer service was always great too. I get a better deal from CLK than Walmart, Costco or our doctor's office. My daughter wears acuvue 2 brand and those are 2 week disposables.

I bought my last batch from visiondirect.com. I found a great deal at slickdeals.net. I got 2 different % off right off the bat. One was a bulk
% and the other was a new customer. Then accuvue was giving a $50 rebate. Total cost was ~$90 for one year. But I wear mine for 30 days instead of 2 weeks so I'm really getting 2 years for $90.

I've been ordering mine from Walgreens using a 20% discount. I've been very pleased with them.

In regards to the 2 week contacts. I usually throw mine out every two weeks. I have sensitive eyes and towards the end of the two week mark, the contacts start to feel uncomfortable. My eyes knew when it was time for fresh contacts.

My DH on the other hand, always wore his more than the 2 weeks. They never bothered him. However, the eye doctor could tell right away that he was wearing them for too long.

Just want to say in BOLD, do not take the lenses OUT of the ClearCare and rinse with saline unless they have had the full length of time in the special containers. DON'T use that stuff in your eyes. Don't take them out before their 8 (?) hours of soaking, Don't rinse with the ClearCare. Bad bad things happen to your eyes.

For a beginning user, I would not use that product. There is too much dial and error, repeated attempts to reinsert the lenses, too much chance on that product inadvertently getting used to rewet the lens.

I order from brandnamecontacts.com. I have found them to be cheaper than 1-800, also they send me a reminder when it is time to reorder that usually includes a $5 off coupon code! The service is great and I have never had a problem with my orders through them!

i used a 25% off code at vision direct (new customers only) to get a price nobody could touch. free ship too. arrived in 3 days
