I've spoken to our hed rep at the wedding department. She assured me that construction at the new GF villa project will be constant, weather dependant, seven days a week, and will not stop for ceremonies at the wedding pavilion. As for November, there will be visible cranes hovering in the air. It's too late for me to cancel as my wedding date is 11/30/11. However, I do get the impression that they want to do everything possible to keep our day special. Only time will tell.

It's going to be hard to see that go up on the wonderful beach strip :sad2:

I spoke to Maxine today and just wanted to give Brides an update as to what I was told.

#1 They are only getting 90 day updates and are trying to inform brides with as much as possible.

#2 The building structure should be complete by April 2012

#3 The inside work will begin May/June 2012

Just heads up to those early 2012 brides... be aware there will be cranes etc begining to pop up in the near future... I'll be at Disney in October so I will go over to that area and take some pictures to keep everyone not in FL and close to WDW updated!!

Hey guys...I'm "sight unseen" so far with the Floridian and where exactly the Wedding Pavilion is. We have our planning session next month, but can someone give me a sense of where this construction site is? Is it visible if you're facing the Pavilion? Visible only if you're standing at the Pavilion looking outward towards and entrance? How how many football fields away are we talking?

Just curious - everyone seems to be addressing this like it's right next door, but I don't know for sure and have zero sense of the space and layout.

Any guidance would be really helpful. :goodvibes

Do you happen to know when in April the building is supposed to be up. My wedding is April 21st, and I dont mind so much but, just would prefer the cranes not to be there.

They estimate the building to be done by April 2012, so depending on the rate they are able to build this thing you might get lucky and the cranes might be gone... but it's not gaurenteed and no one will reall know until then. I will go everytime I'm at Disney or in the area and take pics of the updated construction and I'm sure there are going to be others as well.

Just received a phone call from my planner! My wedding is this Sunday and was originally told walls wouldn't be up till after my wedding! Well they are a week ahead of schedule and now the walls are up blocking the view of the beach and pavilion. The walls are blue, my planner said they are hoping to put trees and plants in front to hide the wall. I'm just upset because the wall is parallel to to the walkway (bridge) and looks horrible. I thought I was going to make the cut of not having the construction ruining my day but know 4 days before my wedding and no other options seems really unfair!

That's weird. I was there on Monday and there was a blue wall to the front of Franck's around the GF spa but nowhere else and you couldn't see any of it from the Pavilion itself.

I'm in January. No way around it for me. I'm going to have cranes. I dont think its going to be that bad. I've wanted the pavilion since i was 6yrs old. It wont stop me. Plus the beauty of the pavilion wont make anyone turn around to look at the construction behind them! Of all things to occupy my destination wedding, family & friends apparently newly appointed personal vacation planning mind, this is not going to worry me.

Do you have pictures to share?? I have been waiting for those walls to go up to see just how bad it was going to be. I'm so sorry you found out last minute and aren't given any other options. Try to enjoy your day though, no matter what it is a once in a lifetime day.

If you are truly unhappy with the WP, talk to your planner. Mine said we could change venues as last as 24 hours before the wedding if the construction was an issue for us. There are other options, it just depends on if you have your heart set on the WP.

I know we are planning on getting married at the WP in October, but we came up with a list of 5 possible back-ups (though it would break my heart) if the construction was too much to handle for us. Hopefully 1 of those 5 will be available for us to use if things don't work out with the WP.

More walls will be up soon. They are waiting on plants to cover the walls. Once they have the plants more walls will be up. I'm not moving my ceremony it's too late to inform everyone and we are using our own photographer so for me it is what it is. I will post pictures once I'm home and have access to do so. I'm just glad Irene stayed away.

Thanks for reposting the link, iluv :goodvibes

I'm wondering if I should be considering backup locations. What have they been suggesting? I emailed my planner 4 days ago and haven't gotten a response, so figured I'd ask here instead. My heart isn't set on the WP to the extent I'd exclude other options.

The annoying thing is that I picked the GF as my deluxe hotel, and the reception is there, because I was trying to keep it all simple. Now I'm wondering if most of the views are going to suck b/c of the construction, let alone how it affects the WP experience. :sad2:

Just back from our planning session and there are blue walls around the left side of francks studio up to the bridge area leading to the pavilion. The beach is clear for about 100 feet up to the banks where walls begin and continue to the grand Floridian pool

Ok, up until now I have been fairly chilled about this whole wedding planning but I have to admit this situation has me FREAKING out! :sad2: We are about 8 weeks away from our wedding and I am just so worried. I keep thinking about pneumatic drills and beeping reversing trucks whilst we're saying our vows, dust and debris blowing in the air, not being able to get photos where we had hoped!..... I'm just so sad about it all :sad1:

I completely relate to you. I'm 3 weeks away and this is freaking me out. I emailed my planner and she said construction will be occurring Monday through Friday until 4:30. My wedding is on a Monday at 5:00 so hopefully I won't be hearing the beeping. But still she said you might be able to see the walls from the bridge, which means we might have our staged exit in another area. Ugh. Like I don't have enough stress. :headache:
