I have seen a few details of the additions to the Lodge but nothing that explains the entire scope of the project. Has anyone heard from a bus driver about the size of the additions or the tie in to the Fort ? I am hoping the bike trail will still be open through the work.

I would like to know this as well. So far, all I have heard is that the trail between FW and the Lodge will be closed starting the 26th. I'm assuming we will still be able to use the road between the two for biking and walking.

I've been following the update thread on the Resorts board, bigdisneydaddy. Bet they will retrofit some of the WL hotel rooms like they did at the Poly into DVC rooms in addition to the cabins being planned at VWL. DVC becomes more attractive to people who stay in Deluxe on-site resorts so DVC is cannibalizing customers from the Deluxe hotel side. That's why so many recent DVC additions have converted hotel space. But I think Disney likes getting that DVC money up front as pre-paid lodging - it helps with this quarter's bottom line.

Sure hope they don't block off the Exercise Trail down by there during construction. It's a nice destination to ride a bike to, walk around, have a cold beverage, and bike back.

I like to run there, so i hope it is not closed off. I need that trail to get my distance. We will be there in Sept just at the beginning of marathon training. At least i don't have to go as far.

There was quite a bit of discussion on the News and Rumors board a few weeks ago. There will be bungalow/cabin type rooms up to the lake edge. Similar to the bungalows at Poly except not directly over the water. Here is a link with architect drawings overlayed on the current maps. The link says "The nature trail, boat and bike rentals, and spa treatments will also be unavailable from October (2015)."

Just booked the Segway tour and was under the impression that it went to/from the Wilderness Lodge as part of the program. Would the construction affect that tour?:scared:

Unless it changed, it didn't go to the Lodge. It stayed on Fort property on the back paths by the lake.

Ditto these. It is nice to run that path to get mileage without looping so much.

We are avid Fort bike riders and are familiar with the paved trail through the wooded area that goes between the Fort and Wilderness Lodge. We've also accidentally taken the street over by group camping and quickly realized it wasn't for casual biking. Are there any other paths to take around (besides the internal paths around the campground, of course)? Thanks and happy camping!

No other paved paths that I know of, but I do know you can get 7 miles by looping all of the camping loops, that's not including the cabin loops.

Never went to Wilderness Lodge, and no (announced) plans to ever do so.
Come on Rusty. It's really pretty inside. We take the resort boat over at least once a trip to wander around and browse through the gift shop.

I've heard the restaurants are good, but we've never eaten there. Did have a drink in one of the bars when friends were staying there.
