I'm planning on seeing my doctor I just haven't gotten an appointment yet. For the last couple of months I've been really tired. I'd get up and take DS to school and come back home a sleep for a couple of hours. Last week it's gotten worse. I can barely function. I've been dropping off my son at camp then hitting Starbucks. Starbucks has no effect. I find myself walking places and my eyes close and I don't realize it until I bang into something. After starbucks I come home and nap for 2 hours then I'm up for a little while but still exhausted. Then comes an afternoon nap. Still exhausted after that. I have cronic insomnia which is strange since I'm doing all this sleeping. I have to take meds at night or I can't sleep. I've been getting about 9 hours a night recently. I don't feel like I have a hangover from the drugs and that's the reason for the naps. I do have depression and have been seeing my psych weekly. We don't feel like it is depression related because my mood is fine. I'm at a loss for what it could be. Anyone have any ideas?

Thyroid issues--which can also appear to be the same as depression issues.

Have your Dr check your Thyroid, and your Red Blood count. You could be anemic or have low thyroid.

I can always tell when my thyroid meds need to be adjusted cuz I am tired and nap all the time. But anemia does that to people too.

Agreed, I'd check out your thyroid and RBC count. Do you snore at night? DF's dad felt exhausted all the time, and it turned out he has sleep apnea.

Hope you're able to get it figured out soon! :flower3:

Lime disease is a possibility too.

I'm confused. You are sleeping many hours napping during the day so of course you would not be tired at night. Did I get that wrong?

So you are taking a sleeping pill to sleep at night and still sleeping during the day as well?

Has your doctor given you anything for the depression?

I would have a full thyroid work-up not just a TSH. Iron levels. potassium level.

I would not rule out depression based on mood alone.

Hope you and your doctor can get to the bottom of it quickly!

You aren't pregnant are you? I get so tired in the first weeks of pregnancy I could literally fall asleep anywhere, probably even walking!
There are so, so many things that can cause extreme fatigue though, there is probably no way of knowing what it is until you get to the Dr.

I agree that you need to have your blood work done to make sure nothing is off. Maybe it is a side effect of a medicine you are on now, sometimes medicines cause very strange reactions, read the ENTIRE pamphlet of everything you take and see if it's a rare reaction, it might be. Do you sleep with anyone who can tell you if you are snoring badly? Could be Apnea, video taping yourself when you sleep would be the best way to tell, it's how they did my sleep study. Could be hormones are out of whack too. Then there is the possibility of night-time sleep disturbances you aren't aware of such as it being too hot ect. My own DH gets insomnia if he has an alcoholic beverage within 4 hours of bed-time and I can't sleep if I've had caffeine of any kind after 5pm. Lots of stuff can cause sleep trouble and not all of them are medical so I'd attack from both angles, at least you'd have something to tell the Dr. you did on your own.

Lime disease is a possibility too.

Well if it's lime disease your lucky, that's an easy fix! You just put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up!!

If it's lymes disease...well that's another story. But the coconut and lime won't hurt! Especially if you add some tequila and one of those cute umbrellas! :)

Lol!

Don't forget the possibility of mono. I had it my sophomore year of college but did not know. I had to have a medical withdrawal for what was thought to be severe depression. Found out about a month later that I had had mono around that time. Lost a whole semester.

I'd get tested for Lyme disease. I was finally diagnosed in April after being told all my symptoms were caused by anxiety for nine months. It got to the point where I couldn't walk ten feet without feeling like I was going to faint. It sucked the life out of me. I've only recently started to feel like normal.

If this was already mentioned, I apologize. While they are drawing blood, I would also have them check your B-12 level. I was having similar symptoms and they found low thyroid, low B-12, low D, and I was anemic. Once the thyroid, D, and B-12 issues were handled, the new tests no longer showed anemia.

I hope you feel better soon.

Awesome remedy I'll take one :cool1: Actually I would check out those sleeping meds some of them can make you tired and sleepy during the day...also get check out by your doc.

Had a sleep study so no apnea. I've had the insomnia for about 15 years. The meds I take are not new and I know what kind of side effects they have. For years I was unable to sleep at all without meds. Being able to nap started about a year ago. It's not just the napping that's causing problems. It the overall exhaustion. Too tired to do much of anything. When I sleep I don't feel refreshed. I have to volunteer all day at Boy Scout camp tomorrow. I signed up before all of this got out of hand. No way to know if I'm going to be able to handle it. Going to bed right after dinner to make sure I get extra sleep tonight. I have a dr appt on Monday. I'll make sure he tests for everything.

Definately not pregnant. I had DH fixed. But it does sorta feel like the early part of my pregnancy with DS.

I have had the same things happen to me, add in total body pain to the mix and I could've written that posts myself. I have been for two rounds of bloodtests so far, am going for another mammogram and it still comes and goes, the exhaustion does. I have a whole heck of a lot going on in my life right now, not much of it good and I think that is what it is.

It could also be a heart issue. DH was excessively tired for months before his heart attack

There are so many things that it could be. That one is probably impossible to diagnose for the DIS doctors. Your doctor will run tests to diagnose. Good luck.
