Console table behind a couch

I wish I had something to decorate on! Thinking of putting in a bay window to put stuff on.....I love decorating for the Holidays!

We have a wall behind our couch... :confused3
We do most of our holiday decorating outside, except for christmas, we love our christmas trees. :goodvibes

Right now just a set of fake books that are really picture albums. I wanted a lamp or two, but it is in middle of room, and I can figure out how to do that without everyone breaking their neck (and looking incredibly tacky) on the cords...

It's too bad you can't wire an outlet under the flooring so there is a plug in right there and it wouldn't be very noticable. :guilty:

You could coil up the cord and just not turn them on, as in, not have them plugged in. If you just want the 'look' of the lamps, I think that would work, but if you want the light source, couldn't you fix a cord to the floor and put a rug over it or something?

If we would have built this house, I would have done those cool outlets in the floor. Now, as a carpet person said, our only option to have lighting is slice the carpet open, run under the carpet, etc.

I love the idea of the lamp for reading. DH suggested using our hurricane coleman lamps to satisfy my need for lamps... :rolleyes2

Is it not possible to go from the room below to put wiring in the floor and then only cut a hole in the underflooring and carpet to install the box and face plate? If not now....then, the next time you install new carpeting...have them do that just under the subflooring. I don't think it would be difficult if the person knew what they were doing and you don't have carpeting to deal with!

Yep!! :rotfl2:

ONE MORE THING....we have Pergo-type flooring with a plug in on the floor. We picked a red oak color. Once it was installed, I panicked about finding an outlet cover because I wanted a wooden cover, not plastic. Much to my surprise, I found one for about $2 at K-mart! Don't panic about finding a nice outlet cover....they are not as hard to find or match as you think! ;)

:confused3 When buiilding how do you "KNOW " where you need these -
I keep looking at the plans and thinking I can put the coach here or there - I might want an end table there -
I know we will have hard wood and I am fraid of making a 'commitment' to outlet spots!

My table isn't behind my couch (it's near the front entrance) but it has candles, picture frames, and some holiday decorations.

nuthin right now-pulled everything out of the house LAST october to recarpet. lots has not made it back in, and i'm to the point where i'm going to get rid of it!

My table (actually two side by side) is behind my sectional, which is the divider between the eating/laundry/computer/desk area of the family room and the TV/stereo/storage area.

I have tile floors, and had a central outlet put in when the room was added 10 years ago. It had a cover over it until I decided to get the table, and put a lamp on it. The table is over the outlet. I have a lamp with a white frosted glass shade, a frosted glass bowl with a frosted candle holder sitting in frosted/clear stones, a covered frosted glass bowl, three diferent sizes of frosted glass candle jars, a pale stone checkers set, and pale stone coasters.

The room is very light and airy, with pale walls and light wood funiture, along with green/blue/beige striped upholstery.
