Considering upgrading to AP

I have seen great posts on the price difference between ticket prices and annual paces, and I would appreciate help for my situation.

Have 7-day park hopper tickets for a fall stay with free dining. We will be in the area again next year, so I am considering an AP.

We are staying on property this year, so parking discount would not apply.

I guess the memory Maker would be nice to have, but one would be enough.

I was considering adding the plus option to our current tickets, but I don't want the plantnum plus AP. So, I will hold off on that until I make a final decision.

What else should I consider?

Depending on your spending habits the merchandise discount can be important. Like the Memory Maker you mention you only need one AP in your party to take advantage of merchandise discount.

But I suspect the math would work out just in the ticket prices. Since you already have the 7 day hopper your second trip doesn't have to be very long to make the annual pass worthwhile. A three day hopper would just about do it.

The discounts on food (10%) and merchandise (up to 20%) and the addition of MM is what makes me get it. I just buy one for me, while the rest of my party gets park hoppers only.

You can HAVE the "Plus" option on your original ticket and still upgrade to the regular platinum AP...
IF you do NOT actually USE any of the "Plus" options on that particular ticket before you do the upgrade.

(And, having that "Plus" option, unused, on the original ticket will get you $15 closer to the
price of the AP if you upgrade.)

We're not shoppers and we have the dining plan for this trip, so that discount won't help this time.

From the disney site. The Platinum AP is 904.19 with tax and the 7-day park hopper is 526.50 with tax. (So, a difference of 382.34 or a little less than a 3-day Park Hopper (with tax))

If I buy the 7-day park hopper plus ticket, it would be 548.48. However, I wouldn't be able to use the benefits of the plus ticlet, since I don't want to buy the Platinum Plus AP.

Thanks again. Our next visit to the area will be around New Year's, so I need to decide if I am up for that crowd level. I also need to decide about when we would make another trip in 2019.
