Considering skipping Epcot. Are we crazy?

We will only be at WDW for 4 full park days and w Soarin being closed. That really just leaves Test Track. My boys are all about the rides. We are thinking they may enjoy a 2nd day at MK for any rides they missed or want to to again.

I personally love Epcot but my boys (including the husband) would find living seas and the land really boring.

My husband is really leaning towards a 2nd MK day. I am unsure. Thoughts?

Send them to MK. You go to EP and have some drinks around the world!

For me, Epcot is all about drinking around the world and hanging out. For your family, it sounds like another MK day might be a better use of time.

Oh definitely. I would skip EPCOT if my kids were younger and do two days at MK. EPCOT is more fun if you are older with the closings.

Another vote for 2nd day at MK. We are doing Epcot for the first time this trip, but we have a princess lunch at Akershus. I honestly don't know if we'll stay too long after lunch. My husband doesn't drink alcohol and the kids can only walk so much around WS.

Soarin is only one attraction and yes it's fun but it only lasts for about 2 minutes. I would never skip any park based on one attraction being closed.

I don't think you should go to EPCOT based on your family's preferences.

I personally would not skip EPCOT but everyone is different.

You said Living Seas and the Land would bore them but would they not like Mission Space? Sum of All Thrills? Spaceship Earth? Imagination? Checking out the countries (Mexico ride, Canada film, etc.)

If they only would like two rides there, I'm not even sure you should bother going to EPCOT on a short trip even if Soarin was open. Takes travel time and valuable park time to get to a park if you're just doing two rides there.

I wouldn't hesitate to skip Epcot. As it is it's only a half day park for us with only the World Showcase taking a while and if no one cares about that then why bother?

We skip HS in this situation (4 days.) My whole family loves Epcot, though, including my thrill loving boy. Soaring isn't a must do for us, though, and my kids love the food, so if those were gone. Are you sure you don't want hoppers? You could definitely drag them there for dinner!

We have two young boys and we would NEVER miss Epcot. I'm sure they would say they prefer MK over Epcot, but there is still so much to do and see. We prefer to go in the late afternoon and stay through most of the evening depending on how the kids are and since the World Showcase opens later in the am.

Right now AK HS and Epcot are all skipable for my family. We went to EPCOT yesterday to ckeck out colortopia and DH and I agreed we would not be back until frozen is open. I just don't like the new TT and everything else is just not great.

You also might consider starting in Epcot with Test Track and Sum of all Thrills, then hopping the monorail to MK for the rest of the day.

we are planning a trip next month. I didn't realize the monorail went from epcot to mk. Where is the monorail pickup located???

Sounds like you'll have to "take one for the team" this time, Mom. Sounds like to you were out-voted by the boys for this trip.

Not that 2 days in MK is a bad consolation prize....;)

If your kids are only interested in rides and not so much into meeting the Princesses, then it's not crazy at all to skip Epcot! There is always so much to see and do in the MK! So on your second day, you can see everything you had to skip on your first day!

Our family preferences sound similar to yours. Kiddo is there for the rides and the French fries and not much else.

So we skipped Epcot on our Jan/Feb trip and didn't even miss it. Instead of an Epcot day, we let kiddo spend the whole day at AK until close, grabbed a bus to MK and let her go wild on walk-on rides until she closed MK too. Pretty sure it was the best day of our mini getaway--for her at least. DH and I were exhausted from a day where we logged 11 miles (!) on our Fitbits!

We are going in April and plan to go to EPCOT in the morning, ride TT and walk around a little bit, and then we will hop over to MK. I made FP for MK that evening, including a Wishes FP which I normally wouldn't get as it ties up our FP for the whole day.

With kids who love rides, definitely do a second MK day. We love Epcot, but we don't have kids and we really like browsing the shops, watching the shows and snacking. I can see though, how that seems like a super boring day for a kid who loves rides.

Here is a compromise for you, on one of your days go to Animal Kingdom first and as they close early spend the evening at EPCOT. You will need a Park Hopper to cut the costs but I just love EPCOT at night. Better dining options at EPCOT for dinner, you have fireworks and there is alot to do and see in the Land at night. 6 more days and I'll be back.

It's at the front entrance to EPCOT. It's up the LONG zig-zag ramp by the bag check station (unless bag-check moved with the new security measures). But the ramp up actually begins back by the "gates" where the bus stop is.

Just ask any of the cast members around the entrance and they'll be able to show you the route.

She won't be purchasing park hoppers on this trip...hence the dilemma.

Thanks for all the input! Can see it definitely depends on the preferences of your family in addition to other factors.

We will probably skip it this time and plan for next time when we can either stay longer or get park hoppers (our tickets were already purchased for us as a gift).
